AT&T announces the launch of several new enhancements for
U-verse TV customers, including Multiview, an app that lets you watch multiple channels at one time; TV Awards and New Shows, an app that helps you stay on top of this season's award shows and season premieres; and a new Media Share feature which lets you stream personal photos and music files from your PC to your U-verse TV. Each of these latest upgrades are now available to every U-verse TV customer at no extra charge.
The U-verse enhancements announced today include:
U-verse TV Multiview, which lets you watch up to four channels at one time and select which channel is the main picture with audio. You can choose from a variety of channels by sports, news and kids programming genres. Instead of browsing through the program guide or surfing one channel at a time, you can tune to a single channel to see Sports Multiview (channel 601), News Multivew (channel 201) and Kids Multiview (channel 301) programming. Using the down or up arrows on your remote you can scroll through the picture-in-picture screens to see additional channels in that genre that are available in your U-verse TV package. Clicking OK selects which channel appears in the main Multiview screen. If there is a program you want to record while browsing, you can select the record button to schedule recordings without exiting the Multiview app. Football fans that subscribe to the ESPN GamePlan package can also view an ESPN GamePlan Multiview application on channel 4400 at no extra charge.
TV Awards and New Shows, an app that gives TV fans, critics and celebrity admirers more information on this year's award-nominated television programs and details on new TV series premiering this fall. The app is available on channel 95 and lets you view a list of all programs nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards, Teen Choice Awards and Television Critics Association Awards; vote for your favorite nominated shows with a click of your remote control; read biographies for nominated actors, actresses, hosts and reality show participants; and preview a summary of new shows making their premieres this season.
Media Share gives you the ability to stream photos and music to your U-verse TV screens from any compatible PC that is connected to the AT&T U-verse home network. Following a simple Media Share set up process, you can view photo slideshows on your TV, listen to playlists through your home theater speakers and play the photo slideshow to your favorite soundtrack. Any PC in the house can be configured to work with Media Share.
All AT&T U-verse customers will also enjoy free access to an exclusive preview of a new Spinal Tap short film called "Stonehenge: 'Tis a Magic Place" on channel 300 on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 10 p.m. EDT in partnership with ShortsHD, the Short Movie Channel.
These upgrades are the latest examples of standard AT&T U-verse services and applications that improve the viewing experience for all customers. Families don't have to fight over who can watch recordings (or season premieres) with U-verse Total Home DVR, which gives customers the ability to play back and manage recordings from a single DVR on any connected TV in the house. U-verse TV customers also have the freedom to record up to four "can't miss" programs at one time, and can schedule DVR recordings from their Web-connected mobile phone or PC.
U-verse TV customers also enjoy an extensive HD channel lineup with access to more than 110 HD channels; the ability to check the current weather conditions and forecasts in any U.S. city with Weather On Demand; the ability to track the progress of their fantasy football team on their U-verse TV screen with Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football; and more.
