The winners of this year’s
TV Innovation Awards were announced during the TV 3.0 Summit at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills on October 6th. Asked about the background to the awards, IMS Vice President Ian Weightman stated, “As the TV industry evolves to a true on-demand experience, with users able to access extensive libraries of content to be viewed at a time and place and on the device of their choosing, many new challenges and opportunities are presented. The goal of the TV Innovation Awards is to recognize the most forward-thinking companies creating products and services that are driving this new TV paradigm, which is often referred to as TV 3.0. We received well over 100 entries for this year’s awards, which were judged by an independent panel of 14 industry experts. We were especially pleased to have received a large number of entries from Asia and Europe as well as from the US.”
There were 13 categories of awards presented, each representing the key technologies that will be necessary as the world moves towards TV 3.0. The winner of each category was then put forward to a final round of judging in which the overall Innovator of the Year was selected: This year the honor of Innovator of the Year went to Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB).
