On2 Technologies inks an extensive agreement with Texas Instruments, under which the two companies will collaborate on technology to implement On2's industry leading TrueMotion VP6 and VP7 video compression formats on TI's industry leading OMAP Platform and DaVinci technology for mobile handsets and digital video applications.

Under their agreement, the two companies will share technology and development resources allowing TI to optimize VP6 and VP7 codec performance for different applications with TI's development partners and community. Earlier this year, On2 became a TI development partner, further extending the availability of VP6 and VP7 codecs to TI's development community.

HP enhanced network platform helps telecom operators provide services to millions of customers. HP Service Delivery Platform 2.0 enables operators to offer their customers greater access to convergent, multimedia and “Web 2.0” services on their mobile devices. The platform also addresses the need for operators to increase revenue from convergent services while simultaneously reducing the cost and risk of creating such services.

Brightcove and Hachette Filipacchi UK announce the corporate-wide adoption of Brightcove to roll out Internet video channels across its magazine properties. The first channel to launch, ELLE Magazine's ELLEUK.com, will feature daily Internet video coverage focused on fashion events, beauty and style tips and travel stories.

Using the Brightcove Internet TV service, Hachette has been able create branded Internet video experiences for readers of its magazines and websites. The Brightcove service enables placement of relevant advertising and the ability to manage syndicated video through affiliates such as fashion websites, news portals, social media sites and blogs.

60Frames a new company dedicated to the financing, ad sales and syndication of professionally-produced online content, launched today. 60Frames provides professional content creators access to financing, speed to market, greater ownership over their intellectual property and participation in all revenue streams including advertising. The company will also collaborate with advertisers to create immersive online branding to better connect their company and products to targeted audiences. Consumers will be able to view 60Frames’ original programming through top video portals, social network Web sites, and mobile and emerging broadband outlets. 60Frames will be working with artists that include visionary filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen, who will create content for 60Frames, as well as serve on a Creative Advisory Board.

A very happy Brightcove announced today that is has signed a major deal with Fox Entertainment Group to make its range of Internet TV services available to all Fox properties. Each Fox network and studio will use Brightcove to program and host ad-supported Internet video channels and targeted consumer media campaigns.

This raises several questions around Fox's intentions with their existing programming viewable on MySpace and their partnership with NBC Universal to create the largest Internet video distribution network.

Limelight Networks has been selected as the provider of streaming media services by The New Media Group, KK ("TNMG") headquartered in Tokyo. Under the multi-year agreement, Limelight will deliver TNMG's IPTV offerings to audiences in Japan, Korea and other parts of the World. The Limelight network is now delivering a wide range of popular TNMG-enabled content, via its "World on Demand" IPTV portal, which has IPTV distribution rights to the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup Tournament in select markets.

TNMG currently offers more than 40 live TV channels from Great Britain, Italy, Pakistan, India, France, Germany, and Australia to thousands of viewers in its core markets.

In December, Level 3 Communications spent $135 million to purchase Savvis Communications' Content Delivery Network (CDN) business. Level 3 is now building out that network in hopes to sign on its existing customers allowing them to compete with other CDN competitors such as Akamai Technologies and Limelight Networks. Level 3 Communications recently spoke to the WSJ about their strategy to enter and compete in this market. The video is below.

Verismo Networks has announced the availability of its ViPTV platform, an end-to-end broadcasting system. The new service looks to be a competitor to solutions such as NewLion's iPTV service. Verismo Networks will supply a set-top box (no pricing as of yet) to consumers who can then download content to it over their standard broadband connection or stream video content from websites like Google, YouTube, and Yahoo.

The ViPTV service is completing its beta testing, and Verismo Networks is currently looking for content providers interested in creating IPTV channels via the service. Providers can offer their content for monthly subscriptions and pay per view by the end of March 2007.
