Tut Systems, Inc., an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, announced that Optical Entertainment Networks (OEN) is deploying its IPTV services utilizing Tut Systems' Astria content processor (CP) with its market-leading encoding and digital turn around solutions.

SkyStream announced that FASTWEB, operator of the largest IPTV service in Europe with more than 160,000 video subscribers, has deployed its Mediaplex-20 headend system. FASTWEB is using the SkyStream headends for providing 36 channels of "FASTWEB TV," its premium television and video-on-demand service in Milan.

Xinhua News Agency, China’s official news agency and its largest news and print media service provider, has chosen SkyStream’s IP video delivery solutions to upgrade its system for distributing news to 80 affiliates worldwide from its Beijing news center.

SkyStream’s Mediaplex-20 ^TM video headend platform and zBand content delivery software give Xinhua the ability to push IP video across multiple platforms through a single satellite connection. Tut Systems Inc., an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, today announced that the company recently won a competitive IPTV video shootout in a real-world headend environment at Manti Telephone in Manti, Utah.

After determining that the Astria content processor (CP) provided superior video quality and scalability for processing real-time video off of satellite and off-air feeds, Manti Telephone placed an order to upgrade its ATM-based headend to IP. As part of the upgrade, Manti will deliver video services to its ATM and IP customers and expand the number of channels delivered to its existing base of TV customers to 133 video and audio channels. Manti Telephone was one of the first telephone companies in the world to deliver video services over copper wires when it first deployed video in 2000.

SkyStream announced that Heartland Communications has selected SkyStream's Mediaplex-20 digital headend to provide IPTV services to its subscribers throughout Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Heartland now offers its subscribers the triple play of video, voice and data services, including 120 video channels through its IPTV service, using a hybrid MPEG-2/MPEG-4 Mediaplex headend.

Tut Systems, Inc. announced that Fidelity Communications Company selected its Astria content processors and its newly released Astria video services processor (VSP) to deliver advanced TV services to customers in Eastern Missouri.

SkyStream announced Aztech Arizona LLC has chosen SkyStream's Mediaplex-20 video headend to provide MPEG-4 AVC encoding and transcoding for the largest operational MPEG-4 deployment in the U.S., as measured by subscriber count and channels offered.

SkyStream announced it has been awarded the contract to provide 106 channels of MPEG-4 AVC video headends for Shanghai-based IPTV operator SiTV. SiTV is launching China's largest IPTV service today, and will initially serve 10,000 homes across Shanghai by the end of 2005.

SkyStream is launching new technology products and a new European partnership at IBC 2005 this week that will help TV operators and service providers in cable, satellite, terrestrial and IPTV differentiate services as they battle each other for subscribers.

SkyStream will ease the transition to MPEG-4 AVC and its bandwidth-saving benefits, with the debut at IBC of its new MPEG-4 AVC Transcoder, which allows TV operators to repurpose widely available and low-cost MPEG-2 content for their new MPEG-4 networks. SkyStream is the first headend provider to integrate transcoding into its Mediaplex-20 and iPlex headends. The company will show a live demonstration of MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC transcoding in Hall 1 Stand 1.249.
