D-Link's Partnership With Boxee Continues to Improve the Home "Lean Back" Internet TV Experience
The Boxee Box by
D-Link
, winner of more than 10 industry awards, has undergone significant improvements on both hardware and content partnership fronts. The latest whole-home entertainment hub features high-performance hardware and a huge content library thanks to several new major media partnerships and a continuing collaborative development effort with Boxee.
Boxee Box aggregates the best Internet content and locally stored media into an elegant on-screen interface for a "lean-back" couch experience. It's the best, easiest way to watch movies, TV shows and clips from the Internet on your TV. All you need is a TV with an HDMI input and an Internet connection. Boxee Box takes care of the rest. The hardware is equipped with an SD card slot, (2) USB ports, an optical digital audio connector, HDMI output, 802.11n wireless and an Ethernet port. There isn't much Boxee Box can't plug into.
New Content Partnerships Add Media to an Already Huge Library
Boxee and the D-Link Boxee Box team are excited about an upcoming VUDU + 3D announcement. The standard 2D VUDU library -- the industry's largest full 1080p HD content library -- is now available. D-Link and Boxee also target Netflix availability in the United States during the last week of January, 2011.
As always, the Boxee Box supports full HD (1080p resolution), and it doesn't lock you into an all-or-nothing store for purchasing content. With a full-featured remote and simple search or browsing interface, users can just kick back and watch virtually anything. Of course, simple customization features allow you to design your own TV and music stations -- with everything you like and nothing you don't.
The Boxee Box viewing experience is also "socially aware." Links to your favorite social networks are built into the platform, so you can automatically see what friends are sharing or share recommendations as you watch.
The World's Favorite Home Media Platform
And the Boxee Box is coming to more countries. "D-Link has helped our small team release the Boxee Box in as many countries as we have employees -- 33 if you're counting," said Andrew Kippen, VP of marketing at Boxee. "Their infrastructure and relationships have ensured that we're able to quickly distribute worldwide with more countries on the way. We expect the Boxee Box and our relationship with D-Link to continue to improve and expand over the long term."
"We're very pleased with the response from the market to the introduction of the Boxee Box," said Daniel Kelley, Associate Vice President, D-Link North America, "With ongoing updates bringing usability upgrades, new content and now 3D movie streaming capability, the Boxee Box is proving it's the best media platform in the industry and the experience is only going to get better."
The media platform is enjoying great success in the USA, Canada, UK, Sweden, Spain, France, Germany, Israel, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere -- with new content partnerships being added every day.
Price and Availability
The Boxee Box by D-Link is currently available throughout D-Link's vast network of retail and etail outlets in North America, and at the company's online store,
http://www.dlinkshop.com
with a street price of $199.
