BT announced content agreements with HBO and Universal Music Group this week for their IPTV service, BT Vision. The agreement with HBO will provide BT Vision viewers with a range of HBO's programming, including series, mini-series, documentaries and comedy specials not shown in the UK before. The agreement with Universal Music Group will enable video-on-demand music videos on BT Vision and also on Windows-compatible listening devices via the BT Vision download store.

BT Vision customers will be able to choose whether they wish to pay for shows individually or as part of a monthly subscription package. The programming line-up will be available from May and will be updated on a weekly basis. Over time the library will build to include, on demand, all episodes of series such as The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

In addition, BT Vision viewers will be able to see mini-series such as Band of Brothers, Angels in America, and From the Earth to the Moon; documentaries Autopsy and Taxicab Confessions and comedy specials such as Ellen DeGeneres: The Beginning and Chris Rock: Never Scared.

Universal Music Group

All available music videos from Universal Music U.K. and a selection of long-form music programming, including concerts, are included as part of the deal. The deal means BT Vision customers will be able to watch on TV, on an on-demand basis, content from Universal Music’s stable of world-leading artists including Scissor Sisters, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, The Fratellis, James Morrison, Take That, Keane, The Killers, Amy Winehouse, The Feeling, U2, Gwen Stefani & Nelly Furtado. They will also be able to download content to watch on the PC or other Windows-compatible devices from the BT Vision download store at http://www.downloadstore.bt.com

Pricing for content on the BT Vision TV service will range from 29p for individual music videos to £2.99 for premium concerts. Pricing for downloads from the BT Download Store will be confirmed over the next few weeks.
