Broadband, Entertainment Convergence Execs Lead Star Speaker Line-Up at TelcoTV 2009
Top names from AT&T, Sony Pictures, and Nokia Siemens will be among the keynote speakers at this year’s TelcoTV Conference and Expo. They head an impressive line-up of over 60 speakers in total, reflecting a broad mix of service providers, standards bodies, industry forums, and vendors in what is recognized as the premier meeting place for the many industries involved in the convergence of the entertainment and communications markets.
John Donovan, Chief Technology Officer for AT&T, and author of The Value Enterprise and Value Creating Growth, launches the keynote program at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11. As overseer of AT&T's global technology direction and innovation road map, including product development, network, and engineering operations at AT&T Labs, he will provide invaluable insight into industry developments at the highest level. Following him is a second keynote by Ramu Potarazu, Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed Avail-TVN Media – that day’s Breakfast Seminar sponsor, presenting Video Over Broadband: TV's Friend or Foe?. Brook Longdon, head of Global Home Entertainment for Nokia Siemens Networks, speaks next. Longdon is responsible for business and overall corporate strategy for media and entertainment solutions, a group that embraces IPTV, MobileTV, and Converged Media delivery solutions. The keynote session ends with a Keynote Panel, Charting TelcoTV's Future: Smooth Sailing or Stormy Waters?.
Mitch Singer, Chief Technology Officer, Executive Vice President of New Media and Technology at Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., launches Thursday’s keynote session. Singer, who also is president of the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem, is responsible for coordinating digital policy across all Sony Pictures’s businesses, with a keen focus on emerging and disruptive technologies. He is responsible for developing new digital usage models as well as coordinating Sony Pictures’s worldwide, anti-piracy activities and involvement in standards setting for the industry. He will be followed by Bob Howard-Anderson, President and CEO of Occam Networks, then a second Keynote Panel Broadband Stimulus: Where Do We Stand?. The speakers on the two keynote panels will be joined by Joe Savage, Fiber to the Home Council, North America, and Lisa Zaina, Chief of Staff for the Rural Utilities Service.
Following the morning’s keynote sessions, the main Expo opens, featuring more than 150 exhibitors, and in the afternoon, the program continues with seven parallel tracks comprising a total of no less than 44 educational seminars and panel discussions, offering privileged insight into and analysis of the evolving world of entertainment convergence, embracing mobile TV, Net video, IPTV, hybrid models, and holistic convergence models. The seven track headings will be:
