Verimatrix announces that ZillionTV has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System for IPTV to secure its on-demand library of programs delivered over an IP connection and streamed directly to the television. Streaming content over an IP network presents a challenging environment to protect high-value entertainment. Software-based VCAS for IPTV provides the encryption required to protect the content from widespread piracy and enable a wide choice of consumer viewing options. The ZillionTV service is expected to offer 15,000 titles from Hollywood studios and TV networks available through the ZillionTV Device, innovative motion-sensing ZillionTV Remote control and a high-speed Internet connection. In addition, viewers have the option of watching targeted and addressable ad-supported content for free, rent content for a nominal fee, or "buy to own," depending upon what options are offered by each content owner tied to each specific program.

VCAS for IPTV was configured to work in conjunction with the ZillionTV Service's state-of-the-art IPTV middleware that includes specific methods of entitlement for a secure viewing experience.
