Broadband Network Systems (BNS) has teamed up with partners Entone Technologies, Envivio and Widevine Technologies to demonstrate a commercially deployable H.264 end-to-end IPTV solution at the Broadband World Forum Asia in Yokohama this week.

The end-to-end solution includes all key components to give major IPTV operators a bandwidth-efficient, standards-based solution that is ready for deployment.

In the demonstration, the BNS BP500 Set-Top-Box decodes both H.264 live multicast streams from Envivio’s 4Caster 4500 encoder and H.264 video streams from the Entone StreamLiner network video recorder (a high-performance, scalable video server) in DVD quality. Widevine’s industry leading comprehensive conditional access and digital rights management solution, the Widevine Cypher ® CA system, delivers pre-encryption of video content for persistent content security from the Entone StreamLiner to the set top box.

“While H.264 was accepted as the industry standard for video compression some time ago, it is only now that a commercially deployable IPTV solution is available,” Jeffrey Soong, CEO of BNS said. “We are very excited to be able to demonstrate this long-anticipated, high-quality video solution with our partners that will enable operators to launch a robust and scalable IPTV video delivery system today,” he said.

The demonstration can be viewed at BNS’s booth #1308 at the Broadband World Forum Exhibition at Pacifico, Yokohama, on Tuesday, 31 May and Wednesday, 1 June from 12.45 to 19.00.
