Harmonic to Showcase at IPTV World Forum 2008
Harmonic
will present its market-leading broadcast and on-demand video delivery solutions for telco, cable and Internet service providers. With Harmonic’s comprehensive IPTV portfolio — encompassing compression, stream processing, content preparation, on-demand software and advertisement/video servers — operators can generate incremental revenue and provide a more personalized video experience. Harmonic executives will also share their industry expertise as featured speakers during the telco IPTV and IP cable sessions of the conference, and the Company is a finalist for four IPTV World Series awards. Taking place in London from March 12-14, the IPTV World Forum conference and exhibition is Europe’s premier event focused on IP-based video delivery.
Key demonstrations at Harmonic’s stand #141 include:
High definition MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video using Harmonic’s industry-leading DiviCom Electra 7000 encoder for various applications including SD to HD up-conversion and dual bit-rate compression for constrained networks
A hybrid headend with standard definition H.264 video encoded by the Electra 5400 and the new Ion AVC systems, ideal for long-tail content delivery
A video-on-demand demonstration featuring the MediaPrism suite of content preparation tools, time-shifted “catch up TV” and targeted ad insertion applications
H.264 multi-channel mosaic compilations delivered using the ProStream 8000 solution
Harmonic’s integrated advertisement insertion solution, including the ProStream 2000 splicer, StreamLiner 2000 ad server and MediaPrism for ad ingest and overlay
Harmonic’s Rhozet business unit will feature Carbon Coder, the industry-leading universal transcoder, at stand #211. Carbon Coder facilitates the transfer of media between acquisition, editing, playout, archive, Internet and mobile. Supporting all major formats (currently more than 40), Carbon Coder can run as a stand-alone application or as part of a multi-node, fully-automated rendering farm controlled by Carbon Server to deliver high-performance, scalable and cost-effective transcoding for enterprise-scale installations.
In addition to the Company’s demonstrations, recognized industry experts from Harmonic will participate at the IPTV World Forum and IP Cable conferences on March 13:
At 11:30A.M. GMT, Thierry Fautier, Director of Telco Solutions, will share his knowledge during a presentation titled “Enhancing Revenues and Differentiating Video Services with Targeted Advertising.”
Gil Katz, Director of Cable Solutions, will be speaking at the IP Cable conference on the topic “Technology Foundations for Cable IPTV Part 2: The Universal Edge-QAM” at 12:00P.M.
At 5:40P.M., Frank Summerfield, Director of Sales, will participate in a panel discussion regarding “How Should Cable Operators Harness the Best of Web 2.0.”
David Price, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing Communications, will be participating in the ipTV News Studio/IPTV World Forum video debate “Video Quality or Bust!”. This session will be recorded and made available on
www.iptv-news.com
.
Harmonic has also been recognized for its technology excellence with its selection as a finalist for the following IPTV World Series Awards:
Best IPTV headend and video processing technology (DiviCom Electra 7000 encoder with 1080p support)
Best cable IPTV technology (Direct-to-Edge solution)
Best interactive TV/advanced advertising technology (ad insertion solution)
Best Internet TV technology (Rhozet Carbon Coder 3.0)
Award winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 12.
