SecureMedia's eONET Virtual STB for Mac
DirectStreams
announce that
SecureMedia's
eONET Virtual Set Top Box for Mac is now integrated with DirectStreams InRoom Digital solution and enables a true and unobtrusively secure television viewing experience on Apple iMac and Mac mini.
Built on Apple's Mac OS X and protected by the Encryptonite ONET System, DirectStreams InRoom Digital solution intelligently manages the distribution of IPTV, Video On Demand, Music On Demand and games across IP networks while providing Internet connectivity, Network access control, authentication and managed billing.
Unique to the industry, DirectStreams engineered their Apple-based IPTV system to offer both multimedia and computer services over IP with a single local server, providing a lower Total Cost of Ownership while expanding on features and capabilities. Guests can enjoy a multitude of digital TV and radio channels in HD quality, play their own DVD and CDs, take advantage of WiFi Internet access with 100% room coverage and easily utilize the onscreen Hotel's interactive room service.
Furthermore, by fully embracing IP convergence, DirectStreams has designed and extended the in-room entertainment experience to allow guests to access the office and multimedia features of the iMac and Mac mini, such as office software tools, internet browsing, webmail and printing services - essentially offering them a business center in each hotel room.
The secure viewing of broadcast IPTV, streaming VOD and downloaded content is accomplished by SecureMedia's eONE Virtual Set Top Box for Mac (and also PCs), providing guests with the same user experience on the Mac as they would get on their TV.
The eONE Virtual Set Top Box encapsulates all of the features and functions of an IPTV STB, including EPG, middleware functionality, channel change, playback control into a single monolithic application. In addition to supporting both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoded video in both windowed and full screen modes, the eONE Virtual Set Top Box enables fully secured PVR features using the Mac's existing internal hard disk. As additional security, SecureMedia's built-in I-DetectT Tamper Detection senses hacker tools and rogue applications and gracefully turns off the player operation if detected.
