TIA Launches GLOBALCOMM Innovations Summit
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA)
, owner and producer of
GLOBALCOMM
, announced the GLOBALCOMM Innovations Summit, featuring dynamic presentations and announcements on the latest technology from nearly 20 innovators, including Microsoft TV, Scientific-Atlanta and Verizon Airfone. GLOBALCOMM, the next-generation communications marketplace and summit, will be held June 4-8, 2006, at Chicago's McCormick Place. For TIA, GLOBALCOMM replaces SUPERCOMM as TIA's annual event for the industry.
The GLOBALCOMM Innovations Summit, part of the GLOBALCOMM Summits series, will run Tuesday, June 6, through Wednesday, June 7. The summit will feature a keynote address by well-known IP communications pioneer, Jeff Pulver, chairman of pulvermedia, a panel of leading venture capitalists in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, and multiple single sessions providing an in-depth look at emerging technologies and innovations.
"In the 'Disruptive Broadcasting' space, TV on IP networks is now just another application in a broadband world," observes Pulver. "We have already seen the transformation of the computing and communications industry with respect to traditional telecom. Now, history is repeating itself with traditional broadcasting."
"Innovation drives the ICT sector, enabling organizations across all industries to compete in the global marketplace. In addition to the 450 companies on the exhibit floor, GLOBALCOMM 2006 will feature the newest ideas from the industry's forward-looking leaders," explains TIA President Matthew J. Flanigan. "HD IPTV, gaming, wireless mobility, UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) are just a few of the technologies being highlighted during this dynamic summit."
Participating organizations include Agere Systems, Bay Microsystems, Broadwing Communications, Cisco Systems, Colubris Networks, DiamondWare, Exent Technologies, Microsoft TV, Nortel, nPhase, Philips Semiconductors, pulvermedia, Reef Point Systems, Scientific-Atlanta, Texas Instruments, Verizon Airfone and Westell.
The GLOBALCOMM Summit series also features the summits below:
GLOBALCOMM Summit: Americas -- Scheduled for Monday, June 5, the Americas Summit will feature case studies, business opportunities, hot trends and regulatory issues surrounding North, Central and South America. Highlights include prepaid IP services in South America, satellite communications and rural telephony, and the rise of multimedia content.
GLOBALCOMM Summit: EMEA -- Held Tuesday, June 6, the EMEA Summit takes attendees on a "business opportunities and lessons learned" tour of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and features speakers from leading companies doing business and making headlines in these regions. Presentations include the latest in GSM networks over satellite, emerging wireless opportunities and ICT partnerships in Africa, global transformations of IT processes and investment opportunities in EMEA.
GLOBALCOMM Summit: Asia-Pacific -- Highlighting one of the most explosive business regions for global communications and commerce, the Asia-Pacific Summit, scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, brings the very latest technology opportunities, case studies and emerging companies to GLOBALCOMM attendees. Topics include FTTH in China, triple play and IPTV in Hong Kong and Japan and communications business opportunities throughout Asia and India.
The GLOBALCOMM Summit Series complements the world-class speaker program planned for GLOBALCOMM 2006. GLOBALCOMM will feature a lineup of top executives from worldwide service providers to address 20,000 delegates at the 2006 debut event. Those speakers include Alberto Duran, founder and CEO, Mundivox Communications; Sanjiv Ahuja, CEO, Orange; John T. Stankey, CTO, SBC; and Stefano Pileri, CTO, Telecom Italia. GLOBALCOMM will provide attendees a comprehensive view of the global ICT marketplace.
GLOBALCOMM 2006 will also feature 450 exhibiting companies, free keynote addresses and panels, paid conferences by the International Engineering Consortium, Light Reading/CMP Media and other organizations, and co-location with OSP EXPO, the Outside Plant Exposition and Conference. Additionally, TIA, organizer of the Supplier Diversity summits formerly held at SUPERCOMM, will produce a new TIA Supplier Diversity Summit at GLOBALCOMM. The final SUPERCOMM was held in June 2005.
