DAVE.TV Establishes DAVE.TV Vietnam
DAVE.TV
, a global IPTV digital entertainment distribution network, today announces the sale of its first Country Platform License to OV.TECH and the establishment of DAVE.TV Vietnam, bringing DAVE.TV content to Vietnam and Vietnamese content to the world. DAVE.TV (Distributed Audio Video Entertainment Television) is the first Cross Platform Digital Delivery Ecosystem that consolidates channels of video entertainment from sources around the world into a comprehensive service that delivers them to the PC, TV, portable and mobile devices. DAVE.TV develops IPTV platforms for service providers such as Telcos, CLECs, MSOs and ISPs. DAVE.TV will be exhibiting at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held in Las Vegas January 5-8, 2006, in Booth #72240 in the IPTV Tech Zone of the Sands Convention Center.
With a population of approximately 83 million with about 9.2 million Internet users, Vietnam is one of the hottest emerging economies in the world. Because cable infrastructure has been virtually non-existent, TV has been mostly relegated to terrestrial off-the-air distribution methods. With the upgrading of IP-based infrastructure such as Internet broadband, phone and wireless infrastructure, IPTV is positioned as the perfect solution to become Vietnam's next generation TV service. DAVE.TV with its DAVE.TV Vietnam service is perfectly positioned to take advantage of this IPTV growth.
In addition, it is estimated that over 3.5 million Vietnamese live abroad including about 1.5 million in the United States with remittances back to the home land reaching US$2.77 Billion in 2005. This provides for a huge market and demand for Vietnamese content abroad. Since DAVE.TV's IPTV service represents "Content Without Borders," these Vietnamese living abroad will now be able to access and purchase live and stored Vietnamese content from anywhere in the world. DAVE.TV Vietnam users will also have access to a significant part of DAVE.TV's content library from around the world.
"DAVE.TV Vietnam, for the first time, offers Vietnamese a wide range of entertainment choices that they have never had before," says Tue Le, Vice President of Business Development, Asia. "And DAVE.TV Vietnam lets Vietnamese around the world get the native content live anywhere on their TVs, PCs and mobile devices."
As part of its Digital Deliver Ecosystem, DAVE.TV delivers media content to the PC via the free DAVE Media Center (DMC™) software and to the TV via its XPORT Set-Top Box (STB). Content can then be delivered to portable or mobile devices by connecting them to a DMC-powered PC or XPORT STB. Vietnamese users will be offered localized Vietnamese versions of DAVE.TV's DMC and XPORT STB.
The DMC is available immediately and can be downloaded at www.dave.tv. XPORT STBs will be available for Service Provider partners starting in Q2'2006.
