Shenick Releases 10Gbps Stateful IP Application Traffic Emulator
Shenick Network Systems
has launched diversifEye10G, the single module 10 Gigabit per second stateful IP application traffic tester. For the first time, equipment manufacturers and network operators can test and perfect their IP services at an application, network and user quality of experience level in 10 Gbps environments before new and upgraded services are offered to end users.
Prior to the introduction of diversifEye10G, testing at 10Gbps levels was restricted to one-way (stateless) packet blasting which simply filled connections to capacity without creating true live conditions involving real-user interaction. Conversely, diversifEye10G, offers real, two-way (stateful) converged services and IP application traffic emulation covering a full range of performance and quality tests in one system. Shenick's unique ability to test at an application and network level as well as drill down to each IPTV, VoD, VoIP and data user means that network operators and equipment vendors can now guarantee their services will operate at the highest level of end-user quality demands resulting in more satisfied customers and increased revenue.
Commenting on the launch of diversifEye10G, Jessy Cavazos, Communication Test Sector Analyst, Frost & Sullivan said, "Our research indicates that newly introduced services such as IPTV and Video on Demand are rapidly scaling from hundreds of thousands, to millions of viewers. The IP communications industry has been anxiously awaiting the introduction of a test system such as diversifEye10G to effectively test using real traffic under the most challenging network conditions possible."
"Unprecedented pressures are being applied to broadband internet access and DSL/Fiber/Cable traffic aggregation devices. For example, DSLAM aggregation routers are now expected to handle in excess of hundreds of thousands of IPTV channel changes per second as well as maintaining the highest video quality on a per viewer basis while mitigating against security attacks," said Robert Winters, CMO, Shenick Network System. "Network operators and equipment vendors need to test performance in highly scaled, real world environments. diversifEye10G is an essential test component in dealing with these challenges."
Other 10Gbps test solutions currently available rely on small microprocessors and FPGAs to generate largely stateless traffic. Shenick's diversifEye10G uses large processing power to generate stateful IP flows so that real video can be multi- or unicast and its visual quality perceptually measured across thousands of flows. Similarly, millions of web connections or tens of thousands of voice over IP calls per second can be generated and analyzed for quality.
Shenick's diversifEye10G is the only truly converged stateful 10Gbps test system available within a single test module. Because of improved price-performance characteristics within a single unit 10G stateful tester, the cost of testing for equipment vendors and network providers is significantly reduced. In addition, multiple diversifEye10G's can easily be daisy chained together and managed from a single user interface to scale to enormous levels of application traffic throughput. diversifEye10G will be available on general release from March 2007.
