TANDBERG Television Drives TV’s Digital Destiny
TANDBERG Television
will show its award-winning solutions that are enabling the television industry to fulfill its digital destiny and video vision, today and for the future. Whether it's advanced compression systems, on-demand or content distribution, the company's products are being used today by the world's leading broadcasters, operators and programmers to deliver new viewer experiences and advertising opportunities. From state-of-the-art acquisition, contribution and distribution; through HDTV and VOD; to internet, mobile and IPTV – TANDBERG Television continues to drive the roll-out of multi-platform digital entertainment, and its NAB booth (#SU4210) will highlight live end-to-end demonstrations of its solutions for this multiplatform universe.
The TANDBERG Television booth will feature a number of zones focused on live demonstrations and interactive showcases of the company’s broad solutions portfolio. New products being launched include key developments in the company’s compression systems and software offerings, with solutions designed to meet customer needs today and help them grow tomorrow. The following zones will be featured:
From Acquisition to Delivery
The ‘Acquisition to Delivery’ zone will be demonstrating a broad range of TANDBERG Television contribution and distribution solutions. These include the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC encoders including the Voyager DSNG encoders, the latest DVB-S2 satellite modulator, the IP video gateway products, a full range of professional receivers in addition to control and management platforms for both linear and non-linear content distribution.

There will also be demonstrations of the latest EN8090 MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder configured for low delay contribution quality applications, of Clarus, the powerful encoding pre-processing solution, and of the RX1290 decoding content between 1.5 Mbps (MPEG-4 AVC SD) up to 90 Mbps (MPEG-2 HD 4:2:2).
Broadcast Head-end
TANDBERG Television will show its innovative end-to-end IP head-end solution, the iSIS 8000, which comprises of the MX8400 multiplexer, nCompass Control v6.0, E5700 series MPEG-2 and EN8000 series MPEG-4 AVC encoders, and the iPlex video processing platform. The flexibility of TANDBERG Television’s IP head-end continues to grow with multi-format video for hybrid head-ends, more transport streams per multiplexer, remote statistical multiplexing, higher throughputs, and IP and ASI interfaces on key system components.
TANDBERG Television continues to lead the market in encoding technology with the release of its latest SD and HD MPEG-4 AVC encoders, delivering the best possible picture quality in real world applications. The company will also be showcasing its market leading MPEG-2 solutions with a complete end-to-end ATSC system demonstration.
IPTV Solutions
Visitors to the IPTV zone will see TANDBERG Television’s industry-leading video processing platform, specifically designed to meet the needs of Telcos. Multi-functional, highly dense and modular, TANDBERG Television’s capabilities continue to be deployed by the majority of operators around the world. The company will be demonstrating a broad range of market leading solutions for IPTV, including the latest development of the multiple award-winning iPlex video processing platform, including integrated MPEG-4 AVC transcoding.
With over 225 IPTV networks worldwide, and customers already deploying transcoding such as Du in Dubai, TANDBERG Television continues to lead the way in terms of technology advancements while understanding customer requirements for high quality and cost effective solutions. The zone will also show the combined TANDBERG Television and Ericsson IPTV offering with solutions designed to enable the creation and delivery of truly converged and personalized television experiences.
Video Solutions Software
The world's leading broadcasters, network operators and content owners use TANDBERG Television's open software solutions to create, manage, deliver and monetize advanced media and on-demand solutions across ‘Any Platform to Any Device. The company will showcase its currently deployed solutions for workflow automation, on-demand content production, targeted advertising insertion, content distribution and VOD back-office.
This zone will feature an overview of the company's next generation MediaPath Secure Content Delivery System. The new system offers content providers, network operators, and their affiliates a scalable, end-to-end solution for the secure point to multi-point delivery of non-linear digital SD and HD TV programs, as well as any other file-based content including VOD programs, advertising, music, and games. Using MediaPath, media assets can be delivered to head-ends serving set-top boxes, PCs, and mobile media players. Multiple delivery options include MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC. The new system offers a performance boost over its predecessor, and supports the simultaneous delivery of content over satellite and terrestrial networks. MediaPath enables content providers and cable, telco and satellite operators to closely collaborate to deliver more types of content, in more formats, more efficiently.
Mobile Television
The zone will feature demonstrations of TANDBERG Television's mPlex mobile TV encoder - the most advanced platform for mobile TV, providing the highest quality and density of encoding, featuring live multi-channel DVB-H transmission to handheld devices at the show. The mPlex encoder is equally applicable for 3G unicast and broadcast MBMS, as well as other mobile TV delivery interfaces such as T-DMB and ISDB-T. This most powerful mobile TV encoding/multiplexing/streaming platform has the flexibility to support simultaneous networks and emerging standards such as future ATSC M/H.
The capability for mobile TV leverages beyond the compression excellence of TANDBERG Television into the full scope of head-end to primary distribution, including systems management. As a part of the Ericsson group, the mobile TV solution extends to a fully packaged system from entire back-office to downloaded client that delivers broad and compelling consumer experiences - from fast channel-change, to podcast TV, to advertising and interactivity within a common system, all within the streaming environment of cellular delivery.
Broadband Television
TANDBERG Television will be demonstrating a complete broadband television solution based on the integration and optimization of three strategic and modular applications: Alloy for content preparation, MediaModeler for content management, and the Broadband TV Clients for multi-platform content play-out.
TANDBERG Television will also be pre-viewing aspects of its next-generation, soon-to-be-released internet video management platform that will enable the converged television experience that today’s consumers are craving, powered by revolutionary tools for custom metadata management, search and discoverability, and cross-device control.
