Tut Systems, Kasenna, SecureMedia Partner to Provide IPTV Solution to ComSpan Bandon
Tut Systems Inc.
, an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks,
Kasenna
, The IPTV Company, a leading provider of video-on-demand (VOD) content and MPEG-4 ready IPTV applications for Triple Play services over broadband networks, and
SecureMedia
, the technology leader in content protection software for secure video delivery over IP networks, announced that Tut Systems is acting as the prime IPTV integrator for
ComSpan Bandon Networks, LLC
IPTV service. The CompSpan Bandon "FiberCast" service is based on Tut Systems' Astria content processor platform, Kasenna's LivingRoom middleware platform and MediaBase video servers, as well as SecureMedia's Encryptonite ONE System conditional access/digital right management software for broadcast and VOD content security.
ComSpan Bandon Networks is a joint venture owned and operated by
Ledcor Technical Services, Inc
(LTS) and ComSpan USA. LTS is a North American network development, design, deployment, system integration and managed operations services provider. ComSpan USA is a competitive local telecommunications operator based in Roseburg, Oregon that provides a complete range of fiber optic Internet, telephone and television services to rural markets. Through their JV with LTS the initial IPTV service will be launched in the coastal resort town of Bandon, OR utilizing Hitachi fiber to the home technology. To date, ComSpan Bandon has already pre-sold its IPTV services well in excess of its business plan objectives within the targeted market and expects a full service launch in May 2006.
"As ComSpan Bandon was looking to launch a premium IPTV service offering, we turned to Tut Systems, the recognized leader in IPTV, to bring together a complete, high quality solution of best-of-breed components that we could deploy to our local customers quickly," said Dean Coons, Chief Operating Officer for LTS.
"ComSpan Bandon Networks is rapidly moving to deploy a triple play service offering and we are pleased to partner with Tut Systems and SecureMedia to expedite their time to market," said Mark Crandon, vice president of marketing at Kasenna. "The Kasenna LivingRoom and MediaBase product lines will allow them to launch a premium IPTV offering that is scalable and extensible as their business and needs evolve."
"SecureMedia is excited to team up with Tut Systems to deliver a secure IPTV system to ComSpan Bandon," said Fred Ellis, CEO of SecureMedia. "As a market leader in IPTV headend deployments and a valued SecureMedia partner, Tut Systems is uniquely qualified to offer operators rapid deployment of complete, end-to-end Encryptonite ONE-based IPTV solutions."
"ComSpan Bandon FiberCast service offering represents another example of Tut Systems bringing all of the necessary IPTV components together to enable a rapid and efficient deployment of IPTV services," said Craig Bender, vice president of corporate development, Tut Systems. "We have worked with Kasenna and SecureMedia in a number of IPTV deployments, and we are familiar with how well they provide complete and easy-to-deploy solutions that are required by triple play operators like CompSpan Bandon Networks."
