Nordija, Concurrent Partner to Enhance International VOD Offerings over IPTV
Concurrent
and
Nordija
, a Danish developer of interactive applications for IP-based video services, announced that Nordija has selected Concurrent's MediaHawk 4000 video server for use in their Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) middleware platform. The Nordija middleware offers a TV portal that assists the viewer selecting channels and using other features such as video-on-demand, electronic program guides, network personal video recording, and personal channel mosaic. Both companies will be displaying their respective technologies at IBC 2006, Nordija in Hall 3, Stand #131 and Concurrent in Hall 4, booth #262.
"We are thrilled to marry our technology with an established global on-demand leader like Concurrent," said Bille Madsen, Commercial ITV Manager for Nordija. "Our advanced, user-friendly middleware technology integrates seamlessly with Concurrent's VOD platforms to deliver the highest quality on-demand viewing experience in an IP environment."
Nordija's IPTV platform offers a complete broadband TV solution for network operators and other companies seeking to distribute and manage enhanced TV signals over IP networks.
"Working with Nordija demonstrates the flexibility of Concurrent's on-demand technology and our on-going commitment to providing our international partners with the tools necessary to deliver next generation video services to their customers," said Gary Trimm, President and CEO of Concurrent.
Concurrent's MediaHawk On-Demand System is deployed on thousands of servers commercially in 24 countries. Concurrent's VOD platform leverages the proven MediaHawk 4000 suite of on-demand software applications to provide unequalled system stability and uptime. The first and most widely deployed VOD solution to utilize commercial off-the-shelf hardware, the MediaHawk delivers independent scalability of content ingest, storage and streaming across both HFC and IP networks worldwide. To date, Concurrent has deployed over 950,000 video streams in 24 countries.
As the on-demand business model evolves, service providers continue to investigate and deploy advanced technologies that will refine and improve the consumer experience. Concurrent recently acquired Everstream, a leader in business intelligence software and a noted vendor in the cable industry, to complement the company's commitment to improving operational reliability and business performance capabilities in its worldwide MediaHawk deployments.
