Global Multichannel Competition Topic of New Kagan Audio Briefing
Kagan Research has announced the speakers for its exclusive audio briefing on “Global Multichannel Competition: The Future Of Cable And Satellite Markets In The Face of IPTV, DTT And Over-The-Top Video” to be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006. The 90-minute teleconference will focus on the latest industry data within a larger competitive context, including an in-depth analysis of several white-hot multichannel markets.
These prominent entertainment and programming industry experts will deliver the audio briefing:
Ben Reneker is a Senior Analyst at Kagan Research, LLC and leads the company’s international media markets research team in following emerging media technologies, digital rights management and mobile entertainment. He is the lead analyst on Kagan’s Latin American Multichannel Markets, Asia Pacific Multichannel Markets and Global Multichannel Markets databooks as well as the company’s web-based Global Multichannel Markets Continuous Information Service, due to launch in Fall 2006.
Josh Hizon, an Associate Analyst at Kagan Research LLC, focuses on international pay-TV markets and has a specialist knowledge of Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. In addition to contributing to Kagan’s slate of international markets databooks, Hizon is a regular contributor to Kagan's VOD & ITV Investor newsletter, which covers global and domestic deployments of new interactive technology.
The Global Multichannel Competition audio briefing offers investors, operators, and analysts the latest industry news, exclusive insights and substantive discussions related to the complex competitive dynamic of the global multichannel market. The briefing will also include a live Q&A with Kagan’s experts. Other topics to be addressed during the teleconference will include:
Hong Kong: PCCW has shown that IPTV can rapidly erode cable market share. How did PCCW do it and what does it mean for cable and satellite operators around the world?
Italy: With one of the most highly evolved DTT markets in the world, Italy demonstrates how DTT can reduce pay-TV incumbent growth. How is Sky Italia coping and what is the significance of Italy’s pay-DTT market adoption?
United Kingdom: The U.K. is perhaps the most competitively charged TV market globally. Kagan’s in-depth look at BSkyB and NTL-Telewest will help participants understand how incumbents must act if they are to maintain competitive viability in the face of strong DTT and future hybrid DTT/IP-VOD players such as BT.
Brazil: With established cable and satellite and emerging DTT and IPTV, Brazil holds massive potential for multichannel TV adoption. But affordability, piracy and an underdeveloped infrastructure remain significant obstacles. Which macro-economic limitations most impact multichannel competition and how can savvy investors and operators sidestep barriers to maximize market potential?
