BBQTV, DAVE.TV Announce Summer BBQ Cook-off Video Challenge
BBQTV
, the first TV channel dedicated to the art of barbecuing, and
DAVE.TV
, a global IPTV digital entertainment distribution network, today announce that they will host a "Summer BBQ Cook-off Video Challenge" on its Social Broadcast Network (SBN) at www.dave.tv. Using the power of IPTV, users can showcase and share, produce and post user-generated content on the SBN as well as broadcast to other DAVE.TV members in the network. The contest allows DAVE.TV members to submit their best videos of summer barbecue recipes including July 4th BBQ meals, and other summertime backyard good eats for a chance to have their own personal videos broadcast to a worldwide audience on the BBQTV channel at DAVE.TV. DAVE.TV users will be the judge with the ability to view and vote for their favorite BBQ video submissions. The winner will win their very own featured BBQTV show on DAVE.TV, a BBQ grill and a year's supply of BBQ rubs and sauces from Texas Rib Rangers. The "Summer BBQ Cook-off Video Challenge" kicks off on DAVE.TV in time for the July 4th weekend on June 30th and will continue throughout the month of July. Votes will be tallied and the Winner chosen and announced on Tuesday, August 1st.
"As the summer rolls in so do the endless outdoor barbecue parties and events that bring families and friends together," says Marc Ferris, President of BBQTV and judge for the National BBQ Association. "We are excited to provide individuals with the first IPTV channel dedicated to BBQ on DAVE.TV where they can share and showcase various cooking ideas and recipes with one another."
Posting and sharing the videos on the growing DAVE.TV SBN will create mass appeal through personal experience and entertainment. Consumers can even create integrated video clips and highlights by combining their user-generated footage with that of broadcast content from other DAVE.TV members in the communities and hundreds of channels of ad-supported content from DAVE.TV's large library of videos on the IPTV network. Users can also embed the videos onto their own MySpace page, blog or website so that their content lives on their site and not a central portal site. Generated content will also reach a cross platform of devices including, television via the DAVE.TV XPORT set-top box, Internet via the many DAVE.TV MyChannels Players which users can embed into their own website, blog or favorite social site and the DAVE.TV website, the PC via the DAVE.TV Media Center (DMC) software, mobile phones, portable media players, and more. The new themed community channels will host several "best video" competitions in which prizes and points will be awarded for use on the DAVE.TV SBN.
"The 'BBQ Cook-off Challenge' is just the first of many competitions to be held on the DAVE.TV Social Broadcast Network," says Rex Wong, CEO of DAVE.TV. "Our platform opens doors to consumer journalism and massive exposure by broadcasting on the IPTV network. The idea is to create communities of common interests and hobbies, in this case barbecue recipes, where individuals can go to share new ideas, developments and trends. And with our various contests built into a 'Game to Fame' concept, we will allow users to submit videos as the 'best' (ie: comic clip, music video, blooper, etc) at a chance to win points redeemable for free DAVE.TV mainstream content."
The DAVE.TV SBN enables consumers to create their own channels, or MyChannels, where they are now the "Broadcaster" and can create and share play lists showcasing their media tastes and choices to friends, families and peers. The DAVE.TV SBN empowers consumers to be "Producers" with the ability to upload and share personal creations with friends or to a worldwide audience. DAVE.TV allows users to distribute various forms of media including videos, music, podcasts and photos, all in a multimedia environment that's easy to use.
