Verizon FiOS TV Inks Deals With Lifetime, HSN, Jewelry TV and Ovation
Verizon
announced separate programming-distribution agreements with Lifetime Television, TV shopping network HSN, Jewelry Television and Ovation - The Art Network. The agreements were signed prior to the launch of Verizon FiOS TV in Keller, Texas, on Sept. 22. The programming is part of the FiOS TV offer now available in Keller, and it will be available in future FiOS TV markets.
The agreement with Lifetime Television includes Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network and Lifetime Real Women. The HSN agreement includes HSN and America's Store.
"These networks will connect FiOS TV customers to a wide range of programming to satisfy their passion for shopping, educational and original programming, as well as popular reality TV and diverse theater, dance, opera and visual arts programming from around the world," said Terry Denson, vice president of programming and marketing for FiOS TV. "We are pleased to add these popular and emerging networks to our extensive channel lineup."
Verizon FiOS TV offers customers a competitive alternative to cable or satellite. In addition to the channels announced today, FiOS TV also delivers hundreds of other digital video and music channels, high-definition programming, video-on-demand content, an interactive programming guide and other customer-friendly features via the company's fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband network. Verizon is already constructing FTTP networks in half the states where it offers landline communications services.
Following are the details of the programming on each channel:
Lifetime Television
Lifetime is the leader in women's television and one of the top-rated basic cable television networks. A diverse, multi-media company, Lifetime is committed to offering the highest quality entertainment and information programming, and advocating a wide range of issues affecting women and their families. Lifetime serves more than 89 million households nationwide.
HSN/America's Store
HSN, an operating business of IAC/InterActiveCorp (Nasdaq: IACI), originated the electronic retailing concept in 1977 and has since evolved into a global multichannel retailing giant, offering thousands of unique products in fashion, beauty, home, jewelry and electronics. Customers who shop on HSN can find name brands such as Sony, Kodak, Gateway Computers and Wolfgang Puck Bistro cookware, as well as fashions from Nicole Miller, Nine West and Etienne Aigner. HSN reaches 89 million U.S. households and is now the 4th largest cable television network in the U.S.
America's Store, a sister network to HSN, is the only TV shopping network with compelling "destination programming," where viewers can tune in at regular appointed times to find products that match their lifestyle or personal interests, whether it's cooking, collecting, DIY or fashion
Jewelry Television
Jewelry Television is one of the leading retailers of fine jewelry in the United States and the only home shopping network to focus exclusively on the sale of fine jewelry and gemstones. Jewelry Television is one of the top 20 largest jewelry retailers in the country and the largest retailer of loose gemstones in the world.
Ovation
Ovation, the nation's only television network with a full schedule of programming devoted exclusively to the arts, is committed to providing viewers of all ages with greater and easier access to the diverse worlds of theatre, dance, opera, literature, music and the visual arts. Through high-quality programming and innovative educational and civic initiatives, Ovation connects viewers with arts achievements within their local communities as well as premiere events worldwide, nurturing their creative passions and giving exposure to artistic experiences that inspire and enrich their lives.
Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
