Disney.com Continues to Break Traffic Records in August
Disney.com
again broke records this summer with new site traffic and “time spent online” records in August. Last month the Disney Online network of sites scored more than 32.3 million unique visitors according to comScore Media Metrix, beating the most recent site record set in June by more than two million unique visitors and representing a 26 percent increase over the prior year. Features recently added to the site such as new “Games,” “Video,” “Character” and “My Page” portals contributed to the milestones. Other drivers included entertainment events and content based on Disney Channel and Disney music properties as well as a user-generated content promotion, ‘U Rock the Summer on

Disney Online also set new all-time records in August in total time spent on the site and total visits with:
More than 1.7 billion total minutes spent on Disney Online in August besting the site’s previous record set in July by 16 percent and representing a 55 percent increase over the prior year.
Record breaking site visits totaling close to 152 million, topping Disney Online’s previous record set in June by 12 million and representing 49 percent year-over-year growth.
In August, Disney.com launched several new site enhancements including the new “Games,” “Video,” “Character” and “My Page” portals which are easily accessible from the homepage. The portals bring together Disney’s vast portfolio of online entertainment together in one place and include new community-based features.
Content based on Disney Channel and Disney music properties including Camp Rock, Disney Channel Games, Jonas Brothers, Cheetah Girls and Miley Cyrus also contributed significantly to Disney Online’s traffic record. Additionally, Disney.com in August ran a successful month long ‘U Rock the Summer on Disney.com’ promotion. ‘U Rock the Summer’ gave fans the opportunity to create and post their own music videos to song clips from popular Disney artists and enter to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including a chance to attend the world premiere of Walt Disney Pictures’ “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” coming to theaters this fall. Guests had the opportunity to view, share and comment on videos that were uploaded. The promotion generated more than 12,000 video uploads, one million site visits and three million video plays.
Announced earlier this month, Disney Online in July broke its all time online video record with more than 186.7 million video streams lifting the site's online video streams ranking to the number six position among all Web sites (source: comScore Video Metrix).
