''The Ukrainian get-together'' was held in Amsterdam!
On September IBC 12 exhibition has started its work in Amsterdam – a major exhibition for information technologies. The organizers are expecting at least 46 thousand of visitors from 130 countries, to whom over 1300 companies present their products.
On the first day IBC Broadcasters Consortium under the aegis of the Japanese company NHK, Italian RAI, British BBC and European Broadcasters Union presented the project Super Hi-Vision (SHV) – television of the future or so called Ultra HDTV, 16 times surpassing high-definition television (7680x4320 pixels or 33 Megapixels). Satellite broadcasting was organized from Turin and simultaneous via IPTV channel from London.
For Ukraine the first day of IBC exhibition became significant because of the accomplished “Ukrainian get-together” organized and initiated by
EEBC 2008 Telecom & Broadcasting
organizer. Within the framework of this event the representatives of the Ukrainian delegation and trade and economic mission of Ukraine in Holland gathered together. IBC Exhibition has been held for many years already and gathered leading experts from all over the world. Ukraine is usually presented by one, maximum two small stands, however, there are a lot more Ukrainian companies worth attention and hopefully their number will increase every year. That is why the main topics for discussion were attraction of more Ukrainian companies to participation in IBC as exponents and Ukrainian experts as visitors, as well as the introduction of new broadcasting technologies in Ukraine.
"First of all, the process of receiving visas for Ukrainian businessmen should be simplified and the agreement should be reached concerning issuing long-term visas to them in order to make this process more time-saving. Trade and economic mission of Ukraine in Holland could be helpful. Second, it is necessary to agree with the exhibition organizers on certain privileges for the group or at least for first-year participants. Here the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine may help. Third, it is important to have an agent to organize the trip and the whole program. Such functions of an agent can be performed by TecheExpo Company – the organizer of Ukrainian EEBC exhibition, one of the activities of which is exactly organization of experts’ trips to branch events", considers Inna Burgela, the Director of TechExpo Company.
Concerning the introduction of new technologies in Ukraine, the meeting participants admit that they are being introduced, but there is one big obstacle in relation to the Ukrainian consumer and level of the Ukrainian economy development. However, this issue does not only relate the telecommunication branch, but is one of the nationwide ones.
A stir of the second day of the exhibition was the victory of Phabrix company among such companies as Omneon, Quantel, Tandberg and Thompson, presenting at IBC a novelty of testing metering equipment S&E. The award was organization IAMB – the International Association of Broadcasting Equipment Manufacturers, one of co-organizers of the show and one of the most influential and authoritative professional associations in the world.
On September 14 IBC Awards Ceremony was held. The winners were not just technical novelties, but complete solutions of commercial or operating use in three directions: creation, management and delivery of content. Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus received the main award for creating the film The Best of Both Worlds Concert.
On this very day, for the first in history, the Ukrainian club meeting was held organized by the Independent Broadcasters Association supported by MacHOUSE company, which we hope will become a good tradition for Ukraine.
