KIT digital Survey Reveals Over 75% of U.S. Businesses are Actively Pursuing an iPad Video Strategy
KIT digital
recently surveyed over 200 senior marketing executives to find that over three-quarters (76.8 percent) of American business executives believe that developing a video strategy for the iPad is important to their businesses’ success. The survey was conducted during a KIT digital sponsored webinar “The iPad: A Fourth Screen or Just Another Device? The Impact of Tablet Computers for Business Communications” held on April 7, 2010.
KIT digital is a leading global provider of on-demand software solutions for managing and monetizing Internet Protocol (IP)-based video assets and works with over 1,000 enterprise clients around the world to utilize IP-video for commercial video distribution and internal corporate deployments such as corporate communications, human resources, training, security and surveillance.
The survey also asked attendees if their businesses currently have a mobile solution for other devices. Over one-third (37.8 percent) responded that they do, while almost half the respondents (43.2 percent) said they are currently working on developing a mobile solution.
The survey results are evidence that companies clearly realize the value of a mobile video component to the success of their businesses, yet almost two-thirds (62.1 percent) do not currently have a mobile video solution.
When asked if they were prepared to take advantage of the iPad’s video capabilities, one-fifth (20.5 percent) of businesses responded that they were, while almost half (47.7 percent) responded that it is an area “currently being worked on”.
KIT digital’s “VX-one” platform is the industry’s first truly end–to-end platform for ingesting, managing and publishing IP-video to the three screens (computer browser, mobile handset, and IPTV-enabled television set). The company recognizes the emergence of HTML5 video and its new platform includes an integration script that automatically adapts its clients’ sites from a web experience using Flash to an HTML5 experience, allowing content owners to automatically and seamlessly deploy to tablets and other mobile devices.
VX-one offers several features that will enhance playback on iPads, including adaptive streaming to ensure optimal video quality, with automatic detection of device form function and bandwidth, advertising—pre-roll and insertional—capabilities, branding and embedded player experiences as well as HTML5 components for presentation of VOD playlists, linear EPGs, rating sharing and other social networking tools.
