SMC's New ADSL2+ HDTV Gateway
SMC Networks
launches the newest of its cutting-edge products for the Service Provider/ISP market: the EZ Connect Wireless ADSL2+ HDTV Gateway. The first solution of its kind, this new ‘All-in-One’ broadband residential HDTV gateway is DSL Forum specifications-compliant, and delivers 40Mbps throughput to support HDTV, SDTV, MPEG2 video (IPTV) and data applications for the most robust and versatile of home networks. Designed to facilitate full remote management by Service Providers, the SMC1114WG brings the ultimate in flexibility and economy for Service Providers, and high-end features like HDTV video sharing and multi-port wired/wireless home networking for the end customer. The competitively priced SMC1114WG has the bandwidth and flexibility to gain and retain customers for Service Providers; and the remote management and serviceability features to maximize their profitability.
An ideal solution for the home and SOHO markets, the new SMC1114WG HDTV Gateway supports multiple wired and wireless technologies. The ‘All-in-One’ Wireless HDTV Gateway incorporates an ADSL2+ modem, a robust router, four MDI-X 10/100 Ethernet ports, a USB 2.0 host port, an HPNAv3 coaxial port and 802.11g wireless access point capability for the ultimate in configuration flexibility and versatility. And, remote configurability means that Service Providers have full access and control for remote management—with two WAN ports to use: the RJ-11 port for ADSL2+ or the Ethernet WAN port that can support up to 90 Mbps of WAN traffic—and to map levels of QoS for various applications/service deployed.
Security overcomes concern around endpoint security, as the SMC1114WG incorporates a robust SPI firewall for secure connection and sharing of high-speed ADSL connection—whether by wired or wireless connection. The NAPT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection, intrusion detection system & Denial-of-Service provides robust security from hackers. VPN pass-through is also provided for securely connecting to office or Enterprise networks.
Providing instant ‘always on’ Internet connectivity, the SMC ADSL2+ HDTV Gateway is ideal for streaming multimedia services, and Quality-of-Service gives priority for delay-sensitive applications like video-on-demand and enhances user experience. The integrated 4-port LAN switch and wireless access point make that sharing easy: use the wired ports to directly connect four computers or expand the network by connecting additional switches; and configure the built-in 802.11g wireless access point to allow wireless connectivity. And, configuration and setup of all of the EZ Connect Wireless ADSL2+ HDTV Gateway’ functions are a breeze with the SMC EZ Installation Wizard and on-screen help.
The new SMC EZ Connect Wireless ADSL2+ HDTV Gateway will ship in July, 2007 to Service Providers/ISPs.
