Emergica Broadband Selects Broadstream for IPTV Deployments
Broadstream Communications
, Inc. announced that Emergica Broadband Media Corp. has selected Broadstream to provide outsourced head-end, transport and middleware services to support the launch of IPTV services to their ADSL and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) communities in northern Colorado.
Under the terms of the comprehensive, multi-year agreement, Broadstream will deliver over 200 channels of content through its satellite-based IPTVConnect
TM
service, the industry's first and most comprehensive IPTV content distribution platform. Subscribers will access Emergica's compelling content line-up using Broadstream's Bstream
TM
content management platform, which will allow Emergica to deliver next-generation interactive IPTV services, High-Definition TV (HDTV), Video on Demand (VOD), Internet on TV, and Digital Video Recording (DVR).
"The turn-key solution offered through Broadstream provides a cost-effective and operationally efficient model to deploy advanced IP video services to our communities," said Derek Stern, CEO of Emergica Broadband. "Broadstream mitigates the risk in deploying next-generation video services while also significantly accelerating our time to market."
The Broadstream solution reduces the overall cost for service providers looking to offer the "triple play" of voice, data and video products, making IPTV not only possible but cost effective, even in the smallest of communities. Broadstream's unique outsourced solution allows Emergica to offer a compelling IPTV service offering without the huge upfront capital and burdensome operational expense associated with a self-built and maintained IPTV head-end system.
"Broadband service providers like Emergica provide an efficient model for smaller markets to deploy advanced services to subscribers, which is critical in today's competitive environment," said Jay Stark, EVP of Sales and Marketing for Broadstream. "Broadstream is committed to providing operators of all sizes with the most cost effective solution to quickly launch IPTV services, and our agreement with Emergica provides the best solution for these small to mid-sized markets."
Key Broadstream features and benefits include:
Full IPTV capability employing the latest advanced video codecs
Over 200 "all digital" video and audio programming channels
Local encoding platform for local affiliate stations and regional sports networks
Bstream™ 3.1 IPTV Content Management Platform
Fault tolerant network, monitored 24/7
Compatibility with existing access networks
Multiple set-top box integration
