Streaming21 Showcases H.264 Video Streaming Solutions for IPTV
Streaming21
, the world's leader in broadcast-quality streaming solutions, today announced that it will demonstrate its new H.264 streaming solutions & advanced IPTV/Triple-play applications at the IPTV Asia Forum in Hong Kong, using fully integrated IP Set-top Boxes (IP-STBs) including ADB, Foxconn, NUMA, COMTREND, Yuxing and Sunniwell. Visitors will experience live demos of end-to-end IPTV solutions for Live Broadcast, Video-on-Demand (VoD), and Karaoke-on-Demand (KoD) based on the H.264 advanced compression standards.
Streaming21's new revolutionary H.264 technology offers a step change in picture quality with amazing high-definition video quality. It also delivers significant advancements in video compression and coding efficiency, making it much more efficient and cost effective to deliver optimal video quality at very low bit rates over IP networks.
KoD is another spotlight to be first introduced in Hong Kong. With this unique KoD system, people can now enjoy singing with family and friends in the privacy and convenience of their own homes. Streaming21 has recently deployed the world's first commercialized 'sing-along on demand' service for Chunghwa Telecom (TAIEX: 2412, NYSE: CHT). The service is expected to reach 200,000 subscribers by the end of this year and 1 million subscribers in three years. KoD is believed to be a killer application for the future of home entertainment in Asia.
IPTV/Triple -play services will soon become the most overwhelming offerings from Asian telecommunications providers. According to a new report from In-Stat, "the Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is set for a dramatic growth spurt in Asia Pacific. The firm expects IPTV services to grow at a rate of 80% annually in the Asia Pacific region over the next five years, with revenues reaching $4.2 billion in 2010."
"Interoperability with our global industry-leading partners in the categories of STB, Middleware, DRM, system integration and content providers enables us to deliver seamless integrated end-to-end IPTV solutions to our customers. We expect to meet more partners to build and market comprehensive portfolio of IPTV/Triple-play solutions through this event," said Dr. Joe Lin, President and CEO of Streaming21.
Streaming21 has won many telecom and network service providers on IPTV/Triple-play projects including Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan, KT in South Korea and NTT Communications, NEO Index, GEO-BB and PoweredCom in Japan. Currently, Streaming21 is working with Shanghai Media Group (SMG), the only IPTV license holder in China, on the Shanghai-based broadcasters IPTV field trials.
