A software provider of embedded Linux-based media over IP applications announced the launch of its new technology built on Texas Instruments' DaVinci digital media processors. DigiLink's new technology will enable traditional TV viewers to watch Internet TV directly on their Digital Televisions and it will be demonstrated live in the Texas Instruments' DaVinci demo suite during the 2008 CES. DigiLink also announced the formation of a strategic partnership with 3D Incorporated, a consumer electronics business development company, in anticipation of accelerating the adoption of DigiLink's enabling ITV technology in consumer-oriented products.

Many popular video sharing websites such as YouTube use Flash Video for user-generated content. Traditionally, this content is primarily viewed by PC users. DigiLink's compelling DME-FLV player enables DaVinci customers, developers, or advertisers with playback or recording of Flash-based content for new and exciting embedded applications, for example Internet TV, IP-STB/PVR, Digital Media Adapter and Portable Media Players. The combination of DigiLink's software capabilities and TI's DaVinci technology will allow ITV and consumer product designers to quickly develop cost effective solutions to match their growing markets needs.

The new software is based on DigiLink's Digital Media Elements. Built on the DaVinci (DM644x DSP) digital media platform from Texas Instruments, the software suite utilizes world class TI optimized or industry-standard audio and video codecs, a standards compliant file container, network and graphic user interface libraries, Linux operating system and device drivers, a TI Codec Engine-based framework, and sample applications with code. The DME-FLV Player, optimized for TI DaVinci processors, plays Flash Video content in real-time.
