JDSU Introduces IPTV Quality of Service Feature to NetComplete Service Assurance Solution
JDSU
today announced new IPTV transport stream monitoring capability to its QT-600 Ethernet and triple-play probe, part of JDSU's NetComplete service assurance IPTV offering that is the only test solution on the market to address quality of service (QoS) from the head end into the home.
The QT-600 IPTV transport stream monitoring capability -- which can track more than 500 streams -- strengthens the ability of service providers to ensure accurate signaling and quality viewing. As IPTV content travels through the content delivery chain, the QT-600 now helps providers catch and resolve impairments that can be introduced anywhere along that chain, all of which pose a threat to the end user's IPTV quality of viewing experience.
The ability to monitor several hundred transport streams simultaneously also enables the QT-600 to measure and calculate key IPTV quality indicators that enable service providers to proactively detect quality degradations before impacting the level of service to the customer.
JDSU's award-winning broadband service assurance solutions for IPTV and VoIP service deployment will be on display at Broadband World Forum in Paris, October 9-12, booth number 7002. The company's NetComplete VoIP Service Assurance Solution will be recognized during the show for winning the International Engineering Consortium's (IEC's) 2006 InfoVision Award for Access Network Technology and Services.
"Service providers worldwide are deploying IPTV to retain and attract new customers with a compelling package of triple-play services," said John Govert, vice president and general manager of JDSU's Service Assurance Solutions business unit. "The QT-600 meets the crucial need to ensure error-free transport for IP-based broadband services."
Govert will address IPTV deployment challenges and related test solutions at the Broadband World Forum workshop called "Transitioning to the Future -- Evolving the Legacy Network with Operational Excellence" on Monday, October 9, 9am - noon. This discussion will include executives from BT, France Telecom, Fujitsu Telecommunications, Ovum-RHK, and WIND Telecomunicazioni.
