AT&T U-verse IPTV Comes to Cleveland, Akron Area
A new world of communications and entertainment is now available to residents in the Cleveland and Akron area's. AT&T announced the launch of AT&T U-verse, which utilizes AT&T's new fiber-rich network to offer cutting-edge television and high speed Internet services. AT&T is the only national provider to offer a 100 percent IPTV service, making U-verse TV "cooler than cable" and one of the most robust and feature-rich services available today.
AT&T U-verse services are initially available in parts of the Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor metropolitan statistical area, including Bay Village, Berea, Broadview Heights, Brooklyn, Euclid, Fairview Park, Lakewood, Lyndhurst, Mayfield Heights, Mentor, North Royalton, Orange, Solon, South Euclid, Warrensville Heights, Westlake, Willoughby Hills and Willowick.
AT&T U-verse services are initially available in parts of the Akron metropolitan statistical area, including Cuyahoga Falls, Fairlawn, Kent, Munroe Falls, Silver Lake, and Stow. AT&T will continue to increase availability throughout the area on an ongoing basis.
AT&T U-verse offers customers a combination of next-generation digital television — including access to more than 26 High Definition (HD) channels — and high speed Internet access. The award-winning AT&T U-verse TV includes cutting-edge features that are unmatched in the market, while the new U-verse enabled AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet builds on AT&T's position as the nation's leading provider of broadband DSL.

I caution eager consumers from jumping ship to ATT U-Verse. The technology is still very much in its infancy. My customer experience this past week provides evidence that what is hyped to be the super "robust" is nothing but a "bust." ATT's installation techs struggled to figure out my rather simplistic cabling infrastructure. After over 6 hours onsite, the gentleman left in a haste with no demo, no insruction guide, and ultimately a faulty product. In the first evening, every TV show would freeze in a "black screen" at least once or twice. I compare this to the hour glass when your computer or internet is hanging up on a transaction (but worse). Next TV service would go out for 15-20 at a time. Finally, the TV service went out completely. This was all within the first 48 hours. I spent an hour on the phone troubleshooting to no avail. Then, a technician came out for an hour to repair. He left saying he figured it out, and all's well. This lasted less than 15 minutes, when the TV service went out again. Disgusted, I asked ATT to restore my previous service (DSL and Dish Satellite). When I threw up the white flag and called to pursue change back, the mental giant known as a customer service rep cancelled my U-Verse service without regard to the consequences. In this case, I was now without high speed internet, along with the lack of TV service already on its sixth day at this point. When I asked them to fix this issue, the response was bureaucratic, lacking empathy for the fact that my wife and I work from home online, they just cost us lost labor time. I post this message using the top fix ATT had for me...dial-up. I don't expect DSL to be restored for at least 3-4 more days due to ATT mythical order processing systems. ATT proved itself to be inept at installation, repair, and customer service. Buyer beware. This technology is NOT ANYWHERE CLOSE to what it's hyped to be. Stay with your DSL or switch to Time Warner.
