CBS is looking to offer a live online video stream of next year's Super Bowl XLIV and the NFL is taking it into consideration. CBS the official broadcaster for Super Bowl XLIV, wants to stream the event comes from CBS Interactive President Quincy Smith, according to Business Week. In the same report, Brian Rolapp, the NFL's senior vice-president for media strategy, says the NFL "would be open" to CBS' proposal. Now this certainly isn't any guarantee, but the two named sources from CBS and the NFL are openly discussing the idea. Even if we don't see live online video streaming of Super Bowl XLIV could mean that it's going to happen in the near future.

A live online stream of the Super Bowl could be because of the recent success for CBS and its online sporting events. CBS has created quite a stir the past two years by offering online broadcasts of its NCAA basketball's March Madness coverage not to mention earning millions of dollars in advertising revenue. So one could see why the NFL might be on board with CBS in broadcasting such a largely popular event.
