On2 Debuts TrueMobile Video at 3GSM World Congress
On2 Technologies, Inc.
today announced the debut of On2 TrueMobile Video, a new mobile video streaming solution based on the Company's proven VP7 video compression technology, at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.
Exhibiting in the Symbian stand B20 (Hall 8) in the Fira de Barcelona Convention Center, the Company will demonstrate On2 TrueMobile Video for the first time during the mobile industry's premier international event. On2 will highlight practical applications developed using On2 TrueMobile Video, including Video on Demand (VOD) and live streaming over 2.5G and 3G mobile networks. Live TV and VOD content will be provided by CTTNet, a leading Chinese mobile TV service provider, On2 TrueMobile Video customer and mobile application R&D partner. CTTNet has taken the lead in developing TrueMobile- based applications and services in China, currently the world's largest mobile phone market.
"Today's announcement represents a significant step for On2 in mobile markets. We're here at 3GSM to show the mobile industry how high quality video compression, optimized for mobile technologies, can create compelling applications for wireless devices," said Dan Scherer, senior vice president of Device and Service Provider Markets for On2 Technologies.
On2 TrueMobile Video is designed to enable mobile application developers, solution providers, wireless handset manufacturers and carriers to create mobile video applications. In addition to VOD and live streaming applications, On2 TrueMobile Video is ideal for creating wireless video applications in mobile television, video conferencing, video ring tones and mobile enterprise applications for delivery on 2.5G, 3G and WLAN networks. Key attributes of the On2 TrueMobile Video solution include:
Built on On2 VP7 video compression technology, optimized for mobile handsets;
Provides quality video content at data rates as low as 28 kbps;
Supported by On2's TrueCast® encoder/server/player architecture;
Flexible architecture for integration with 3d party client/server deployments;
Customizable licensing terms with no onerous back-end server costs;
Available as a turn-key streaming solution or as a low-level development tool;
Available now for Symbian OS and Windows Mobile;
Proven technology for satellite-based or cellular-based Mobile Video Services: current customers include XM Satellite Radio and CTTNet;
Proven technology for IP-based video conferencing: current customers include Skype, AOL AIM Triton and Tencent;
Enables optimal use of available spectrum and/or bandwidth.
