Latens FCAS solution has been chosen by Douglas County Public Utility District to secure its IPTV roll-out. Douglas County PUD will deliver IPTV across its Douglas County Community Network (DCCN). The DCCN is a high speed broadband network delivering broadband at speeds of 100 Mbp/s to residential homes, businesses and government offices.

Visitors to the NXTComm exhibition (Chicago, June 18-21, 2007) will be able to see the full range of Latens’ IPTV security solutions on its NXTComm booth (#7244).

Douglas County PUD, based in East Wenatchee, Washington, is one of more than 2,000 customer owned public power organizations in the United States operating on a ‘not-for-profit’ basis. The DCCN backbone includes hundreds of miles of fiber optic lines, connecting several towns throughout Douglas County. IPTV service on the DCCN, will launch later in 2007, with an offering of over 300 IPTV channels.

The Latens software-based technology removes customer care issues such as customers misplacing smartcards and also means that the operator does not need to stockpile and manage smartcards to accommodate new subscribers. The flexibility of Latens FCAS enables an operator to select only the CA components that are relevant and necessary for its business, eliminating the cost and complexity of unwanted features. Furthermore, the system can be progressively updated as an operator’s needs develop and grow without disruption to existing services.
