NEC America, Inc. (NEC), a leading provider of carrier-class communications products for optical networks, announced today that NEC researchers and industry experts were selected to present 14 in-depth technical papers at the collocated Optical Fiber Communication (OFC) Conference and Exposition, and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC). The OFC/NFOEC exhibition will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California, on March 5-10, 2006.

The findings to be presented are a result of intense research activities carried out mainly by NEC Laboratories America, Inc. (Princeton, USA) and NEC Central Research Lab (Tokyo, Japan). A few headlining topics include:

• Advanced components and signal processing methods for high speed (40 Gb+) optical transmission
• Innovative approaches in dealing with wavelength routing and switching for metro and regional applications
• Broadband access technologies and solutions for emerging applications (IPTV, VoIP, triple play).

In addition, NEC will chair a technical session related to optical wireless convergence in the access and metro networks.
