The international resource for the broadband services industry, the Broadband Services Forum (BSF), announced on March 10th that it will hold its first quarterly members meeting in Santa Monica, California on Tuesday, March 29th, 2005.

The BSF, formed earlier this year through the merger of the Broadband Content Delivery Forum (BCDF) and the Service Creation Community (SCC), invites members and guests to attend the full-day meeting, hosted at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. The session will feature service provider perspectives on key IP-based services such as IPTV and voice, as well as presentations on content-aware services, home networking solutions, content aggregation and distribution, network and application security, and the commercial management of content.



"Although this is the first official meeting of the BSF, the new organization is looking to build upon the momentum and excellent work the BCDF and SCC have been doing in addressing the broadband services market for many years," said Derek Kuhn, BSF Chairman.

Amy Friedlander, SVP Programming at SBC, will provide the keynote address on "The Promise of IP Television." Rounding out the service provider offerings, Ellis Lindsay of Bell Canada's Consumer Services Development Team will address "SIP-enabled Content and Services."

Barbara Esbin, Associate Bureau Chief of the FCC's Media Bureau, will provide insights on regulatory issues confronting IPTV deployment.

Additionally, Josette Bonte, Vice President and Director of RHK's Broadband Content and Services Program, will discuss "The Constellation of Success in an IP Marketplace."

As the first member session for the newly created Broadband Services Forum, time will also be allocated to review the Forum's objectives, marketing and branding initiatives, working structure, and member opportunities with updates from the Forum's Technology, Business, European, and Marketing Working Groups.

Additional program speakers include representatives from Alcatel, Juniper Networks, net.com, On Demand Ltd., Starmark International, Thomson and ViewNow/Kasenna.
