Envivio announces that Altibox has deployed Envivio 4Caster C4 Gen III encoders to power the new Altibox Chill multi-screen streaming service. Chill delivers 40 channels of video as well as the Altibox library of VOD content to PCs, Macs, iOS and Android devices using HTTP adaptive bit-rate streaming in Microsoft Smooth Streaming format. Altibox plans to expand the service to more devices in coming months.

Envivio 4Caster is a versatile platform that performs a variety of functions—including multi-profile encoding, transcoding, packaging, encryption and publishing—in a single system that delivers broadcast-quality TV, HTTP streaming and 3GPP mobile video.

Using ABR streaming, image quality can be adjusted to provide the best picture for the available bandwidth on any device. Altibox Chill will also support capabilities that allow the viewer to pause and continue viewing of programs on different devices.

Envivio now serves more than 250 customers in 57 countries. Every day, Envivio encoders ingest more than 16,000 live IPTV, Internet TV and Mobile TV channels and process more than 34,000 unique streams serving tens of millions of viewers.
