FalconStor Software, Inc. announced that its PrimeVault facility has been selected by KyLinTV to manage the storage and hosting of its more than 15,000 hours of broadcast TV and Video on Demand (VOD) programming.

Using Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), KyLinTV brings high quality broadcast channels and hundreds of hours of VOD shows and movies to subscribers with existing home DSL or Cable broadband connections. While VOD and broadcast content from China are archived for subscriber access, KyLinTV is also adding about 1 terabyte of entertainment content per month. As a burgeoning business, KyLinTV 's IT needs center on storage and network availability.

PrimeVault's on-demand storage capacity provisioning --the continuous monitoring of storage consumption and availability-- allows KyLinTV to utilize just the amount of storage needed without running out of disk space. KyLinTV's goal is to free its IT administration staff from the burden of maintaining and servicing all of its stored video content, with PrimeVault taking over those responsibilities.

PrimeVault's high availability network storage infrastructure is powered by FalconStor's IPStor(R) software. Combining the business continuity and disaster recovery functionality of IPStor software with RAID-6 storage for redundancy and reliability, PrimeVault is equipped for data protection and resiliency from both a software and hardware perspective. PrimeVault's state-of-the-art facility includes multiple security layers, dual power grids and three 1.1 megawatt emergency generators, providing sufficient backup power to keep facilities operational at maximum load, with a smooth transition to back-up power.
