GlobeVISION to Launch IPTV Service in North America for Asian-Americans
GlobeVISION, Inc. announced it is launching an on demand Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service for Asian-Americans in North America, and has already forged content deals with three media giants. The announcement was made by Edward Bach, Founder and CEO/President of GlobeVISION, who is also the Founder and former CEO of ATI Technologies Korea, Inc.
Content deals with Korea's two largest private broadcasters, MBC and SBS, as well as CJ Media, Korea's largest cable media group, will allow PIE service to deliver tens of thousands of Korean and Chinese television and movie programming choices directly from Asia to the TV sets of subscribers in North America. The service is available now on a trial basis in Southern California and will begin serving Asian-Americans across the U.S. and Asian-Canadians on July 1st.
GlobeVISION's PIE Service is delivered through the subscriber's broadband Internet connection to a self-installed rented or purchased set top box that outputs directly to their television or home theater. Subscribers pay a monthly fee for on-demand access to programs in various categories including movies, drama series, entertainment (talk & variety shows), music, culture, news, sports, and animation in a digital format that supports widescreen DVD-quality video, multi-channel audio including DTS 5.1 surround sound, and multi-lingual subtitling including English.
Besides thousands of classic and current movie titles, content will include programming from CJ Media's "M.net," the music channel specializing in entertainment news and music videos, and "Olive," a lifestyle channel specializing in food, fashion, and style. Hit television programs such as "DaeJangGeum" from MBC, which garnered a whopping 53.4% viewership in Korea and was a smash hit throughout Asia, and "Lovers in Paris," from SBS will join a constantly updated selection of current programming from those two broadcast companies.
The announcement is welcome news to Asian-Americans and Asian-Canadians who can now connect with the culture of Asia through on demand original programming and entertainment that reflect the true Asian experience.
"This is a real windfall for Asian Americans and Asian Canadians looking for genuinely Asian content, and GlobeVISION is proud to provide this service to them," stated Mr. Bach "We are also pleased that Korea's leading content providers across multiple platforms recognize GlobeVISION as the gateway to the North American marketplace," he added.
Launching PIE Service with three giant content partnerships and more on the way highlights how GlobeVISION's PIE Service provides a unique opportunity for Asian media companies to establish a presence and build their brands in North America.
