Alloptic Announces Development of 10G EPON Edge 10 Product
From the Fiber to the Home Council meeting,
Alloptic
, Inc. announced the details of the company's new Edge 10 platform, the industry's first 10 Gigabit capable Ethernet-based Passive Optical Network (10G EPON) system. Supporting both 10G EPON and IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile, the Edge 10 provides industry leading bandwidth with unmatched per flow based Quality of Service (QoS). Alloptic plans to begin shipping the Edge 10 to customers mid 2007.
"By supporting both GE-PON and 10G EPON on a 'blade by blade' basis, the Edge 10 extends our market leadership position by ensuring our customers can cost effectively deliver both high densities of Fast Ethernet and fractional Gigabit Ethernet services for business applications, while supporting the multiple simultaneous streams of High Definition time-shifted IPTV - crucial for future residential deployments," said Shane Eleniak, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Alloptic. "The Edge 10 supports Alloptic's existing family of ONTs and continues our unparalleled support for the broadest range of voice, video, data, and security services with native TDM support, integrated VoIP, optional RF video and a rich set of Ethernet and IP features."
Designed to NEBS Level 3 standards, the Edge 10 is a modular, redundant OLT chassis. With an 800 Gbps backplane, advanced packet processing and per flow QoS, 8 port GE-PON and 2 port 10G EPON line cards and multiport 10 GE uplink cards, it provides unmatched capabilities for meeting ever-increasing customer bandwidth demands.
Alloptic is an industry leader in the development and deployment of IEEE Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) technology. Alloptic's access network solution has been deployed around the world and offers the only GEPON solution with four years of field hardened, operational history. The Alloptic solution leverages a standard ITU PON architecture, while delivering a gigabit of bandwidth. With a native ability to support traditional TDM voice over an Ethernet-based platform, Alloptic is able to provide today's worry free telephone services while seamlessly supporting next generation services like IP HDTV.
