France-based Iwedia, a provider of embedded software for digital television, and UK-based Ocean Blue Software, developer of software solutions for the digital home, announced the certification by the UK Digital Television Group (DTG) of their MHEG-5 V1.06 solution.

The solution is the result of the integration of Iwedia’s Comedia DVB middleware and Ocean Blue’s Voyager MHEG-5 and DSM-CC software. Targeted at set-top boxes and integrated digital television manufacturers, the solution is available in conjunction with a wide range of chipsets.

From September 1st 2006, all digital television receivers in the UK must conform to the new MHEG-5 V1.06 specification designed by DTG. MHEG-5 is a standard for the display and delivery of interactive TV services. Thanks to an extended test suite, V1.06 enhances the interoperability between applications and receivers.
