Eagle, GlobeCast to use Minerva's iTVManager with IPTVComplete
Eagle Broadband, a leading provider of broadband, Internet protocol (IP) and communications technology and services, and GlobeCast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, and the world's leading satellite services provider, announced today that they have signed a national licensing agreement to resell and make Minerva Network's iTVManager a key middleware option for customers of IPTVComplete
TM
, Eagle and GlobeCast's turnkey solution for broadband providers to deliver high-quality video and entertainment services to subscribers over broadband networks.
"We designed IPTVComplete to utilize best-of-breed technologies that enable broadband providers to quickly launch and generate revenues by delivering highly competitive video and entertainment services," said David Micek, president and CEO of Eagle Broadband. "The subscriber interface is a critical component that can greatly enhance the user experience and the ability to offer Minerva's iTVManager provides an important additional revenue stream for us. By utilizing iTVManager, we are able to offer a proven middleware solution to our IPTVComplete broadband provider customers that, when used in conjunction with our MediaPro IP set top boxes, can deliver an exceptional user experience that can help IPTVComplete customers capture new and retain existing subscribers."
iTVManager is a leading IP middleware solution that runs on a set top box and provides subscribers with a friendly, easy to navigate user interface for controlling their IP video and entertainment content via their television. The iTVManager user interface can be easily customized to incorporate service provider branding and layout preferences.
IPTVComplete provides the fastest, most cost-effective way for telephone companies, municipalities, real estate developers and other broadband providers to launch and deliver high quality, IPTV video services to their customers over fiber or DSL broadband networks anywhere in America. IPTVComplete provides a unique combination of video content, headend infrastructure, satellite distribution, set-top boxes and operations support that reduces the time, effort and costs for new and incumbent broadband providers looking to generate new revenue streams from offering more competitive entertainment services.
"IPTVComplete lowers the barriers to entry for broadband operators wishing to offer triple-play services," said Mauro Bonomi, President and CEO of Minerva Networks. "Minerva's iTVManager will enable IPTVComplete customers to offer a broad range of revenue generating services and a very compelling subscriber experience."
The subscriber's ability to interact with the remote control and on screen menus is critical to the success of IP television services. The experience must be friendly and easy to use. Minerva Network's iTVManager client user interface is intuitive, simple to navigate, and provides easy and fast access to all available services. The iTV Manager client features a highly optimized native embedded application. The embedded application offers fast response for heavily used functions, such as menu bar navigation and electronic programming guide scrolling. The native embedded application ensures that broadcast TV services are always available even in case of a temporary back-office application server failure.
