AT&T announces that the new NFL RedZone channel will be added to the AT&T U-verse TV channel lineup. Through an agreement with the NFL Network, AT&T will make the channel available to U-verse TV football fans beginning with the NFL season's opening Sunday, Sept. 13.

The online content — provided by numerous content providers including ABC and NBC Universal (via an agreement with Hulu), CBS Interactive and dozens more — is available to all consumers

TelcoTV Asia 2009 announces that representatives from more than 40 Chinese and Asian regional operators will be attending the show, which will be held October 13-14 in Shanghai, China.

Organizers said that many of the telecom and cable operators that have confirmed they are attending the event, either as speakers or audience members, have launched their IPTV, mobile video, and online video services in the past 12 months. The Chinese operators in attendance will include Jiangsu Telecom, Guangdong Telecom, Heilongjiang Unicom, Shanghai Telecom, and Hangzhou WASU. They will be sharing technology topics as well as business model issues together with IPTV and communications suppliers such as ZTE, Ericsson, Microsoft, and Motorola. The on-site attendee number is estimated to reach 300.

Adobe announces Adobe Flash Access 2.0, a key component of the Adobe Flash Platform. Flash Access 2.0, previously known as Adobe Flash Media Rights Management Server, is a scalable, flexible content protection solution that enables the distribution and monetization of premium content, which can create new sources of revenue for media publishers. New in this release, content protected with Flash Access 2.0 will play back securely on an upcoming version of Adobe Flash Player software – the cross-operating system browser plug-in that is available on more than 98 percent of Internet-connected desktops worldwide. Scheduled to ship early next year, Adobe Flash Access 2.0 will provide robust protection of audiovisual content and flexible usage rules to support a wide range of business models, including electronic sell-through, rental and video on-demand, for streaming or download. Adobe will demonstrate Flash Access 2.0 during the IBC 2009 Exhibition at its stand (Hall 7, Stand H.23) in the RAI Convention Center, Sept. 11-15.

Verimatrix and Envivio announce a collaborative solution that enables pay-TV operators to use Apple's HTTP adaptive bitrate streaming technology for the iPhone to deliver IPTV and over the top content that scales effectively across mobile devices, PCs and other client types. The solution pairs Envivio's 4Caster C4 three screens encoder/transcoder with the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System to create a unified headend that delivers protected SD and HD content over unmanaged networks to any Internet-connected consumer playback device.

UTStarcom announces a Reseller Agreement with DESCA. The Agreement will help accelerate UTStarcom's expansion into 14 markets in Central and South America with the support from DESCA's team of more than 700 sales, service delivery professionals and customer service agents.

Bolstering its ability to provide the richest user experiences to consumers, Microsoft announced plans to release Internet Information Services Media Services 3.0, which enables delivery of interactive, high-definition-quality Live Smooth Streaming, along with new tools to simplify the process of delivering online experiences with Microsoft Silverlight. At the International Broadcasting Conference, Sept.11–15 in Amsterdam, Microsoft also will preview the latest media feature developments in Microsoft Silverlight 4, including native multicast support and support for offline digital rights management powered by Microsoft PlayReady technology. In addition, the company announced the release of its IIS Smooth Streaming Transport Protocol and Protected Interoperable File Format specification under the Microsoft Community Promise, helping to ensure openness and industry interoperability.

Espial announces that Com Hem AB, Sweden's largest cable operator, has chosen Espial IPTV middleware for its next generation digital TV and VOD services, named Com Hem On Demand. The Evo TV Service Platform powers the Swedish operator's recently launched on-demand TV services. These advanced, interactive services include movies on demand, several catch-up TV programmes and a music on-demand service. Com Hem will be actively rolling out and marketing these services and, by December 2009, 500,000 Swedish households are expected to be able to use the services.
