The new IMS Research report The World Market for Professional Video Encoding – 2009 Edition reveals that the industry will experience an estimated 19% annual increase in worldwide shipments during 2010, representing an 11% annual increase in revenues over 2009. This includes all broadcast encoders serving the ingest, transcode, distribution and contribution (fixed & mobile) markets. At the end of 2008, cable comprised the majority of distribution shipments followed by IPTV. This trend is expected to continue through 2014, although the CAGR for satellite is forecast to be stronger than any other platform. On the contribution side, revenues are forecast to grow by 17% through 2014 on shipment growth of 18%.

Inlet Technologies has been selected to provide Microsoft Internet Information Services Live Smooth Streaming online video for NBC Universal during the media company’s coverage of the XXI Olympic Winter Games from Vancouver, February 12-28. The announcement was made today by Perkins Miller, senior vice president, digital media, NBC Olympics; Scott Guthrie, corporate vice president of the .NET Developer Platform at Microsoft Corp.; and John Bishop, senior vice president of strategy and business development, Inlet Technologies.

Telchemy announces that over 120 equipment manufacturers have successfully integrated Telchemy’s VQmon software into a wide range of products, such as IP phones, VoIP Gateways, Routers, IPTV Set Top Boxes, Residential Gateways, eMTAs, Probes and Analyzers. Over 50 million units of VQmon have been shipped, representing an annual growth rate of over 50%.
