Global Gateway Media & Communications announces that its wholly owned subsidiary Speedia Media is in negotiation to finalize an agreement with a company to deliver its content over Internet Protocol using a technology referred to as IPTV.

The BBC Trust has given its provisional approval to the BBC's involvement in Project Canvas, saying that the likely public value of the proposal justifies any potential negative market impact.

Project Canvas is a joint venture between the BBC and five other partners to develop and promote a common standard that would allow viewers with a broadband connection to watch on their television sets on-demand services, such as the BBC iPlayer or the ITV Player, and other internet content, as well as ordinary linear television content. This would be via a device such as a set–top box connected to the internet. Viewers would have to have a broadband subscription but would not pay any additional subscription for the content.

Mobile Tribe announces the availability of its new YouTube service on Roku player products. This new and additional capability enables TV viewers using Roku and MobileTribe to extend their experience of blended social networking by including the ability to interact with YouTube, as well as a wide selection of other leading community sites including Facebook, MySpace, Orkut, Google, and Yahoo.

Humax and ANT have partnered to deliver the first Hybrid Broadcast Broadband TV set-top boxes to market. Humax, one of the world’s largest set-top box manufacturers, selected the ANT Galio HbbTV Platform for its new iCord HD+ set-top box, which began shipping to German retail outlets in December 2009 to become the first HbbTV set-top box to be deployed. The iCord HD+ allows consumers to access hybrid services including ARD Mediathek, Tagesschau, ARTE, internet radio, Maxdome and Wikipedia via the set-top box.

Tilgin has won a breakthrough order for products and software from a leading Nordic fiber operator. With Tilgin’s solution the operator is able to further enhance its consumer offering with an evolution of its Triple Play Services.

This operator will introduce Tilgin’s Full Service Routing solution for Triple Play, based on Tilgin’s Home Gateway HG1300 together with the softwares HGA 570 and VCM 5, to fiber connected households. The order value of this initial order is approximately SEK 2 million.

Episodic announces that SHOWTIME Sports has once again selected Episodic to power the live online video initiative STRIKEFORCE: All Access, an immersive web experience where Mixed Martial Arts fans are able to control all the action from their very own front row seat. The unique live webcast will take place Saturday, December 19th, from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

The immersive digital experience will stream simultaneously with the live SHOWTIME telecast beginning at 10 p.m. ET and be available to fans around the world including those in Brazil, Japan, throughout Europe as well as in the U.S. and Canada.

Hong Kong Broadband Network announces a partnership with Disney-ABC International Television, Asia Pacific, the integrated distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company, to launch Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney Channel starting 16 December 2009, as part of the channel package tailored for children and education on HKBN's bbTV IPTV platform.

Comcast has made its On Demand Online experience available nationally in beta at no additional cost to customers. The innovative new service now called Fancast XFINITY TV, gives customers an “anytime anywhere” entertainment experience – at home and on-the-go - and expands the video content customers can watch online by giving them quick and easy access to thousands of hours of cable TV shows, movies and independently produced content.

The Open IPTV Forum has signed liaison agreements with the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA), the Digital Video Broadcasting Project (DVB) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) to further drive for an interoperable end-to-end IPTV solution for Managed Network and Open Internet deployments in a global market.

AT&T announces several additions to the AT&T U-verse TV channel lineup, including five new HD channels and new international programming channels for Filipino and Cantonese viewers. With the latest additions, AT&T U-verse has launched more than 60 channels this year, including 30 HD channels. The U-verse HD channel lineup now offers more than 115 HD channels, which continues to exceed the HD channels offered by the major local cable providers in every U-verse TV market.

Deutsche Telekom is making numerous new functions available to all customers of the Entertain TV service. Thanks to the "connected video recorder" Entertain customers can now link up several media receivers, manage serial recordings even more easily and share photos with friends and relatives via Entertain.
