Corvette Telecom and its subsidiary, City TV, have selected the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) to provide digital video content security throughout their new IPTV network. Corvette telecom is launching the IPTV and Video-on-Demand services under the City TV brand name in 2007 to meet growing demand for sophisticated entertainment options.

Corvette is building last mile fibre networks in Moscow, offering customers broadband Internet connectivity at up to 100 mb/s and is expected to reach more than 600,000 homes by the end of 2007.

IPTV-Americas has selected the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) to provide digital video content security throughout its digital video network. IPTV Americas is currently running trials of its turnkey IPTV solution with telecommunications carriers in Latin America and plans a full-scale launch in 2007. Brasil Telecom has chosen Widevine Technologies to protect its IP video service. Scheduled to launch in phases, the service enables subscribers to view a variety of Hollywood content and local programming on set top boxes, home media gateways and, eventually, PCs.

NDS announced that KT and the C-Cube consortium, having selected NDS' content protection solutions, have successfully completed one of the first IPTV trials in South Korea. The IPTV trial was concluded on December 31, 2006, and final technical evaluation will be submitted to the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Korean Broadcasting Commission for consideration.

The Ministry of Information and Communication and the Korean Broadcasting Commission are conducting rigorous technical verification and stability testing of the C-Cube consortium's IPTV service. The information will be utilized for the review of legislation that will authorize the launch of commercial IPTV services for the first time in Korea.

Latens Systems announced that it has a suite of Downloadable Conditional Access System (DCAS) security products that uphold the FCC requirement for the US cable market to provision set-top boxes with a 'severable security component.' Falcon plans on launching the new IPTV service in Q2 2007 when it has completed its dedicated fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) IP network in the Colorado marketplace.

Taiwan's state-owned Chunghwa Telecom has purchased an additional 300,000 Virtual SmartCard clients from Widevine Technologies to secure premium linear broadcast and video-on-demand delivery across a wide range of consumer electronics devices. This is in addition to the 500,000 clients Chunghwa purchased in 2005 for planned subscriber growth.

TELUS has signed a six-year agreement to apply Widevine Technologies's video content protection technology across a number of platforms.

TELUS offers a range of video products including downloadable multimedia content, cellular-based TELUS mobile TV and TELUS TV, an IPTV broadcast and video-on-demand service. Widevine will secure the delivery and consumption of content via set top boxes and PCs used by TELUS customers accessing these services. TELUS will also assess using the technology in its wireless devices such as cell phones.

Verimatrix announced a technology alliance with Motorola and the integration of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) with its leading series of IP set-top boxes (STBs). Motorola's advanced VIP1900 series is the first line of their IP STBs to fully support the VCAS solution. The VIP1900 series is fully functional with High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition in MPEG-2 and H.264 (MPEG-4), and Digital Video Recorder (DVR) support including time shift. All West Communications, Inc., a provider of IPTV services in the state of Utah, has selected the Latens FCAS Conditional Access solution to secure its advanced IPTV services.

FCAS will integrate with the Entone VOD server and Hydra II multi-stream set-top box and with Minerva's iTV Manager, to provide an end-to-end IPTV solution.

The Board of the Marlin Developer Community announced the use of Marlin Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology by a TV project trial lead by a Japanese government agency and an associated nationwide TV portal service.

Five major consumer electronics companies -- Hitachi, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba -- announced at the CEATEC Japan 2006 consumer electronics show, a proof of concept trial for TV portal services using Marlin IPTV-ES as the content protection system for video distribution. This trial is conducted by the Japanese Ministry of Economy and Trade Industry (METI) to investigate platform businesses with networked consumer electronics.
