WEGENER Corporation, a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, will showcase its latest MPEG-4 high definition (HD) set top at TELECOM '05, October 24-26 at the Venetian Hotel and Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.

Amino announced that its award-winning, single-chip IPTV set-top box for H.264 video now offers full integration with the industry's leading middleware. The AmiNET124, which was launched in June 2005, is capable of running middleware from Alcatel, Kasenna, Orca Interactive and Thales. This enhanced interoperability will enable Telcos to deploy advanced H.264 IPTV services quickly with the reassurance that the customer premises equipment is proven and compatible with the rest of the network.

Optical Entertainment Network (OEN) announced that Amino will supply standard and high definition Set-Top Boxes (STB's) for FISION's fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Video service. Cambridge, United Kingdom based Amino, the leading provider of consumer premises equipment for broadband and IPTV based services, will deliver the first generation STB's for FISION, that will receive over 300 video channels including over 50 channels of High Definition Television (HDTV), video-on-demand (VOD) and original and specialty programming.

FISION is scheduled to launch in December 2005 in Houston, Texas, the 10th largest Television market in the U.S. In addition to delivering over 300 channels of entertainment programming, FISION will deliver High-Speed Internet at unprecedented speeds of 10 to 100 Mbps per subscriber. FISION will also provide IP Voice services including local and long distance services, to deliver on the promise of true convergence from one company.

Interactive Television Networks, Inc., a leader in Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), announced the signature of a long-term distribution agreement with O'Rourke Sales Company ("OSC"). As part of this agreement ITVN will directly benefit from OSC's relationships with over 20,000 audio visual and satellite installers and independent retailers across the US.

Kreatel Communications announced that the global communications company Atlas Interactive has selected Kreatel's IP set-top box solution for its broadband-based multimedia deployment project netTV in India. This large scale project will initially provide services over the telephone network to 50,000 customers in the National Capital Region of Delhi.

Eagle Broadband, Inc. announced that the company has received a $1.6 million order for Eagle's MediaPro IP set-top boxes and Minerva middleware from AllAccess Technologies to power their multi-state rollout of advanced video and entertainment services using Eagle's IPTVComplete video solution.

The launch of the IP3000 platform accelerates Eagle's push into the residential IPTV market with the company's most cost effective, entry-level set-top box. The IP3000 product family complements Eagle's existing high-end IP5000 family of IP set-top boxes enabling the company to now deliver a full range of standard and high-definition solutions for the residential IPTV market. Amino returned home from this year's IBC event in Amsterdam after collecting one of the industry's most prestigious awards for its latest IPTV set-top box. The AmiNET124 was awarded the Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit Award to the best IP set-top box for its innovative design and advanced performance - features which have already led to both customer interest and actual deployments only a few months following the product's initial launch at Supercomm in June 2005.

New Medium Enterprises Inc. and Global MediaCast Ltd. have reached an agreement to launch a new Versatile Multilayer Disc (VMD)-integrated High Definition (HD) IPTV Box offering a complete triple-play solution for digital television in the 4th quarter of 2005. The new IPTV Box will be the first ever to include the versatile functions of receiving broadcast and satellite transmissions, storing and playing films & programs in both Standard Definition (SD) and HD formats.

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) has become a common denominator for systems where television and/or video signals are distributed to subscribers or viewers using a broadband connection over Internet Protocol. Many of the world's major telecommunications providers are exploring IPTV as a new revenue opportunity for their markets. As Informa Telecoms & Media put it, "rapid growth over the next five years will see 25.9 million IPTV subscribers by end-2010--around ten times the 2005 figure. At the same time the sector will start to generate significant revenues and will be worth $10.4 billion in 2010."

Amino Communications, the Cambridge-based IPTV (IP television) systems and software vendor, has been named top worldwide supplier of IP set-top boxes by US technology analyst organisation, ABI Research. The report also confirms Amino's position as the second largest volume supplier - a position achieved after only two years in the IPTV set-top box market.

In its recently-released 138-page report, "Set Top-Box Market Development for CATV, DBS, DTT and IP", ABI Research assessed the top ten IP set-top box vendors which had solutions in place during 2004. Each was analysed in accordance with 12 criteria including: number of successful deployments and trials, support of open standards, financial soundness, length of time in IPTV industry, regional focus and product features. Overall, Amino achieved the highest score in the survey.

Sigma Designs announced it will be demonstrating its SMP8634 media processor at the IBC 2005 (International Broadcast Conference) in Amsterdam September 9-13, with Scientific-Atlanta's advanced IPTV set-top box, product mix to address telco opportunities on a worldwide basis. The demonstration of the new class of system-on-chip (SOC) based set-top box platforms will be shown at the Scientific-Atlanta stand (Stand 1.471).

Joining forces to power AVC/H.264 IPTV deployments, Envivio Inc. and Sigma Designs announced the port of EnvivioTV^TM player's interactive features for Sigma's new 64-bit, SMP8634, AVC/H.264 decoder chip. The Envivio client software integrated with the Sigma chip enables set-top box manufacturers to support full featured interactive television services and for service providers to deploy new revenue generating client services using the open standard MPEG-4 format.

Microsoft Corp. and Sigma Designs Inc. announced today at IBC2005 the availability of a new class of system-on-chip (SOC) that will enable the production of low-cost, high-definition-capable devices optimized for the Microsoft TV Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Edition software platform. The new SMP8634 media processor from Sigma Designs will enable set-top box and consumer electronics manufacturers to create a range of products for broadband service providers to deliver IPTV services to the home.
