Ooyala unveils Ooyala Everywhere, a suite of integrated technologies and services that deliver professional video across mobile devices, connected TVs and browsers. With Ooyala Everywhere, rich, personalized viewing experiences can now be offered directly by the content creator or distributor to consumers, and can be fully monetized through ads, subscriptions, and pay-per-view.

Additionally, Ooyala announced the Ooyala Everywhere Partner Network, a global network of device makers, software providers and broadcasters focused on the delivery and monetization of professional video to connected devices including TVs, tablets, smartphones and browsers.

KyLinTV announces the official launch of KyLin2.0. For the first time ever, Chinese television channels will be delivered to overseas Chinese subscribers in high definition and available for mobile consumption on the iPad or through a PC.

After the successful debut of first generation platform in North America in 2005, KyLinTV launched its service in Europe and Asia last year. KyLin2.0 is the exciting next step in the evolution of KyLinTV and features the first ever HD Chinese channels delivered by IPTV. IMPALA, the International MHEG Promotion Alliance, has welcomed the launch of the BBC iPlayer on UK DTT service Freeview HD. The hugely popular catch-up TV service debut on the platform has been made possible by the deployment of the connected TV variant of MHEG – the MHEG Interaction Channel.

In a statement on the BBC Online Blog, Gideon Summerfield, Product Manager TV iPlayer, said, “Last week we...made an important release for Freeview HD. We can now offer BBC iPlayer to new connected TVs and set-top box receivers that conform to the latest Freeview HD specification, known as D-Book 6.2.1. This standard version of our application relies on MHEG-5, the same technology that powers BBC iPlayer on Freesat HD boxes, and the technology long used to deliver Red Button services on Freeview and Freesat.”

DreamTV launches free access to their line-up of fresh and unique video shows on several connected TV platforms. DreamTV is one of the pioneers in integrating a patent pending technology for playing advertisement on any connected TV platform. The advertisements are fairly short -- about 10 to 15 seconds -- as a pre-roll advertisement before the show starts. The service also supports a subscription model to opt out of advertisements.

NeuLion is working with Team National to create Team National TV, an IPTV television service for Team National's members. The new Team National TV will deliver dozens of linear channels of television programming including Fox News, CBS College Sports, Hallmark Movie Channel, Fox Business, and many others. Content will be delivered to Team National's audience of over 300,000 members via NeuLion's IPTV set top box.

In addition, Team National TV will also feature a Team National video-on-demand channel, updated with weekly content, featuring numerous videos showcasing the many products and services that Team National TV offers its independent marketing directors. Their TV service is offered in hybrid bundles with DSL and phone service from some telephone providers

Global market research firm IMS Research has updated its Online TV Set Shipment Database with new information regarding TV shipments split by technology, iDTV demand, and TV households split by reception platform in 68 countries. The update reveals that Latin America is projected to be the fastest growing TV market over the next several years. Additionally, IMS Research expects a change in the demand for several key TV types, including LCDs, OLEDs and iDTVs.

Espial announces Hitachi is shipping their latest Connected TV models into the Japanese market powered by the Espial TV Browser. To assist with their goal of being one of the premium TV suppliers to the Japanese Market, Hitachi has incorporated the Espial TV Browser which is included in the following Connected TV models shipped to only Japanese market: Hitachi P42-XP07, P46-XP07, P50-XP07, L32-XP07, L37-XP07, and L42-XP07.

Vestel announces that they have collaborated to develop the first Connected TV for operators. With the joint solutions and for the first time, IPTV operators worldwide can also offer premium IPTV services including Live TV, PVR and VoD over a Connected TV. Operators are no longer required to deploy a Set Top Box and can thus simplify the home network and in the mid-term reduce the investment costs in hardware. The joint solution is demonstrated at the IPTV World Forum 2011 in London on SoftAtHome’s stand #76.

Verimatrix announced its partnership with Vestel to create a versatile IP-enabled range of connected TVs ready for premium service delivery. Vestel's range of MB36 IP enabled TV's are available for deployment with embedded Verimatrix ViewRight client security supporting VCAS protected digital TV services.

The secure connected TVs will be demonstrated at the IP&TV World Forum, March 22-24 at Verimatrix's booth #117.

Time Warner Cable is launching an iPad application that plays live TV, becoming the first cable company to do so. The app will be free to download on Tuesday morning, but it will only work for people who subscribe to both video and Internet service from the New York-based cable company. Even then, it only works in the home, when the iPad is connected to the company's cable modem via a Wi-Fi router.

Rob Marcus, the company's chief operating officer and president, said the app will play 30 basic cable channels in high definition to start, but that number should expand soon.

"For all intents and purposes ... this enables you to convert any room in a house into a TV room," Marcus said.

NeuLion announces that it streamed 400+ live college basketball events in the first half of March and that viewers spent an average of 31 minutes consuming this video and audio content. NeuLion's platform will also power broadcasts for the upcoming National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Division I Men & Women's Basketball Championships, which begin on March 16.
