Amino, leading IPTV software and consumer premises equipment provider, today confirmed that it has worked with Canal Digital to bring IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) services to subscribers within the Nordic region. Canal Digital deployed AmiNET110 IPTV set-top boxes to subscriber homes to offer full IPTV services by the end of 2005.

Telecom Italia and Sky have signed an agreement to make Sky's film channels available on "Alice Home TV", Telecom Italia's TV via the Internet service, starting during the month of February.

Top Italian and international films will be broadcast on Sky Cinema 1, Sky Cinema 2, Sky Cinema 3, Sky Cinema Autore, Sky Cinema Max, Sky Cinema 16:9, Sky Cinema Classics, Studio Universal and Rai Sat Cinema World.

Supporting its Metro network serving thousands of customers on Finland's west coast with Triple Play services, Vaasa Telephone Company is relying on Extreme Networks, Inc. to deliver voice, video and data over a high performance Metro Ethernet ring.

Vaasa has built a high-speed 10 Gigabit network between the cities of Vaasa and Seinajoki using Extreme Networks' BlackDiamond 10K switches for the network core and Summit switches at the network edge. Today, the network aggregates more than 30,000 combined Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) and DSL connections, carrying broadband traffic for phone calls, Internet connections and video.

NDS Group plc announced that Telekom Austria, Austria's largest telecommunications company, has selected Synamedia, the NDS secure broadband IPTV and VOD solution and architecture.

The NDS Synamedia solution, integrated with VideoGuard content protection and digital rights management, offers Telekom Austria a secure platform for the delivery of multi-channel pay-TV and VOD services to customers using a broadband connection.

BT announced three more deals with leading rights owners to widen the range of family entertainment available on its eagerly-awaited national next generation TV offering.

Axiom Systems and Wipro announced that the leading telecommunications company in the Nordic and Baltic countries, TeliaSonera, have extended their investment in the AXIOSS Suite, choosing it for the roll out of Layer 2 and Layer 3 IPVPN services. The project will also incorporate the provision of Carrier Ethernet services.

Kreatel Communications today announced the agreement with Bonnier-owned FastTV to supply set-top boxes for FastTV's Scandinavian IPTV service. Deliveries of Kreatel IP-STB 1510 and Kreatel TV Software have already started.

In cooperation with city and regional networks and Swedish Space Corporation for the infrastructure and playout, FastTV offers broadband television services including more than 50 digital TV channels, video on demand, email, and EPG to a large number of households in cities across Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Axiom Systems, announced that the AXIOSS Suite, from Axiom Systems, has been chosen to rollout Triple-Play services including next generation IP television, data and voice for multi-services operator, Telekom Austria. The project will be deployed in conjunction with Alcatel.

Amino announced it has been selected by Novis, a major Portuguese Telco, for a residential service to be branded as 'Clix Smartv'. A commercial test launch with AmiNET110 set-top boxes is scheduled for December 2005 in Lisbon and Porto, with full commercial deployment planned for 2006 in all major cities. The service will include an electronic programme guide (EPG), Video on Demand (VOD), and a personalised choice of channels.

Just over a month after BT announed that their future TV service will be available to BT broadband customers without the need for a subscription fee, they are completing content deals with major networks.

Starting December 2, Telecom Italia launches TV on the Internet (IPTV - Internet Protocol TV), enabling access to movies, sports, news, music and Internet content directly via the TV at home.

After the successful trial of the service in around a thousand Italian households, Alice Home TV will be launched in 4 cities across Italy (Rome, Milan, Bologna and Palermo), reaching over 2 million households.

The service will gradually be extended to a further 17 cities from January 2006 (Bari, Naples, Padua, Cagliari, Genoa, Florence, Alessandria, Modena, Venice, Verona, Turin, Trieste, Catania, Brescia, Biella, Sondrio and Reggio Emilia), reaching around 4 million households through. By the end of 2006, 8 million households will be covered in 250 towns.

In a deal worth more than EUR 50 million, broadband solutions provider and systems integrator Industria has been selected to roll out Ireland's first ADSL2+ network for triple-play digital service operator Magnet Networks.

Included in the agreement are the design and implementation of a full IPTV EPG platform, the supply of ADSL2+ access technologies, and TeleManagement Forum standard-based software provisioning.

Advanced Digital Broadcast, a leading supplier of digital TV systems and software solutions for interactive television, announced today that it has received a substantial order from FASTWEB for the supply of its 3800TW New Generation set-top box (STB). This unit is ADB's latest single chip IPTV platform based on the STi7100 chipset from STMicroelectronics.

Juniper Networks, Inc. announced that Dutch service provider Versatel has selected Juniper Networks routing platforms for its new broadband services network. As the first service provider in the Netherlands to offer advanced voice, video and data -- or Triple Play -- services over DSL, Versatel is providing its ADSL customers with services that include Voice over IP (VoIP), IPTV, video on demand, and televised live sporting events, such as national league soccer.

BT set out its vision for nationwide next generation TV as it announced that Europe's largest electronics company Philips has been selected to supply the set top box to deliver a range of unique services. Every set top box will include a personal video recorder (PVR) capable of storing up to 80 hours of programming and capable of delivering High Definition content. The BT-Philips partnership builds on the recently announced alliance with Microsoft, which will provide Microsoft TV IPTV Edition as the software platform for BT's TV over broadband service.
