Verizon today announced a programming-distribution agreement with NFL Network, the television channel providing fans with year-round programming on the National Football League. It is the latest in a series of content agreements that Verizon has announced.

Under the agreement, Verizon will carry the channel on Verizon FiOS TV when it launches later this year. Also included are NFL Network in HD and NFL on Demand, the network’s video-on-demand programming, which currently ranks as the No. 1 sports content available on demand.

By the end of this year, FiOS (FYE’-ose) will expand to parts of Ventura County, and the service will be available to Verizon customers in 22 Southern Californian cities. The majority of customers in Huntington Beach, Murrieta, Sun City, Malibu and Beaumont can already experience the FiOS difference.

Verizon took another step toward its goal of providing one of the country's most extensive TV programming lineups when it announced separate programming-distribution agreements with five networks.

Under the agreements, Verizon will carry the channels on Verizon FiOS TV when it launches later this year. They are: Varsity TV, Gospel Music Channel, Soundtrack Channel, MavTV and GolTV.

Ingalls Urges Change in Telecom Law to Reflect Technology Convergence and Speed Video Competition

Verizon Retail Markets President Robert Ingalls told members of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications April 20th that his company is poised to provide customers with a new competitive choice in television service, but that current regulatory requirements threaten to delay the benefits for consumers.

The new service, called FiOS TV, will be offered later this year over Verizon’s new fiber-to-the-premises broadband network, which is capable of delivering 100 megabits downstream and up to 15 megabits upstream.

Verizon announced a long-term affiliation agreement with Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) for the SEG premium movie channels and services. Under the agreement, Verizon will be able to carry East and West Coast feeds of all 13 Starz Entertainment Group movie channels on Verizon FiOS TV when it launches later this year. The programming includes the flagship Starz and Encore brands, Starz On Demand and Starz HDTV.

Verizon announced a long-term affiliation agreement with Showtime Networks Inc. for its premium movie services. Under the agreement, Verizon will carry 11 Showtime Networks channels on Verizon FiOS TV when it launches later this year. The programming includes Showtime, The Movie Channel and Flix brands plus high definition and video-on-demand programming.

Verizon announced a long-term agreement with NBC Universal Cable for distribution of its cable and broadcast networks on Verizon FiOS TV, which launches later this year. Two of the networks, Telemundo and mun2, will be part of the extensive lineup of Spanish-language programming available to FiOS TV subscribers.

The agreement includes rights to distribute Bravo, CNBC, CNBC World, MSNBC, SCI FI Channel, Trio, USA, ShopNBC, Telemundo, including Telemundo's locally owned broadcast stations, and mun2, a channel aimed at young U.S. Latinos. Also included are retransmission consent rights to NBC Universal's owned and operated broadcast stations and Universal HD, a service that features high-definition films, TV shows, performing arts, sports and special events.

Movielink and Verizon announced the launch of a co-branded movie downloading service for Verizon Online’s consumer broadband subscribers. Verizon Online’s consumer DSL and FiOS Internet Service customers can now purchase and download movies to watch at home or on-the-go through this special agreement with Movielink.

Verizon is rolling out the industry's premier consumer broadband services to many of its customers in the Franconia, Leesburg, McLean, Springfield and Tyson’s Corner areas. The new services currently are available to customers in Annandale, Falls Church and adjacent areas of Arlington and Fairfax counties.
