MatrixStream Technologies, Inc., will be demonstrating at CES the world's first H.264 AVC (advance video codec) Video on Demand and IPTV Set Top Box (STB) and PC Player capable of the highest of high definition (HD) signal formats with 1080 vertical pixels by 1920 horizontal pixels.

MatrixStream's 1020HD STB will match and even exceed broadcast and satellite quality video over any broadband network the same way that VoIP can be used over any broadband connection.

Xinhua News Agency, China’s official news agency and its largest news and print media service provider, has chosen SkyStream’s IP video delivery solutions to upgrade its system for distributing news to 80 affiliates worldwide from its Beijing news center.

Broadcom Corporation, a global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors, today announced the industry's first front-end cable TV set-top box chip with integrated channel bonding technology. Channel bonding is a DOCSIS ® 3.0 feature that dramatically increases the transmission speed of a cable TV network, enabling multi service operators (MSOs) to migrate to an all- Internet Protocol (IP) network platform. Addressing voice, video and data, the all-IP network enables MSOs to provide significant benefits such as additional cable and local broadcast channels, content flexibility and improved network efficiency.

Verizon launched FiOS TV today in seven more North Texas communities, bringing to 14 the number of Dallas/Fort Worth suburbs where consumers can obtain the new competitive service that represents an alternative to existing cable and satellite services.

Effective immediately, Verizon local telephone customers in Colleyville, Grapevine, Murphy, Sachse, Southlake, Westlake and Wylie now have a new choice for television.

The long wait will soon be over for Howard County residents eager for cable TV competition, thanks to a unanimous Howard County Council vote Tuesday night (Jan. 3) authorizing Verizon to offer its fiber-optic-powered FiOS TV in the county.

With its more than 265,000 potential viewers, Howard County is the first Maryland jurisdiction to grant Verizon a cable franchise. Verizon launched FiOS TV Sept. 22, 2005, in Keller, Texas, unveiling a broad collection of all-digital programming with more than 330 total channels and more on the way. The company also offers FiOS TV in Herndon and Fairfax County in Virginia, as well as other locations in Texas and Florida. Availability plans for FiOS TV in Howard County will be announced soon.
