Optibase, Ltd. announced that it is providing its advanced IPTV solution to NASA. Optibase MGW 1100 carrier-grade IPTV streaming platforms have been successfully deployed at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, NASA's premier flight research and test organization for the validation of high-risk, pioneering aerospace technology, space exploration concepts, and the conduct of science mission observations. The MGW 1100 provides H.264 video and audio, in combination with an Optibase PC soft player application and display manager for streaming of content over the internal IP NASA base network. The content includes TV channels such as news and weather channels as well as NASA-generated channels such as live flight test footage and other events.

Juniper Networks, Inc. announced that Chongqing Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom and one of China's largest telecommunications service providers, has deployed Juniper Networks E320 Broadband Service Routers to cost-effectively address growing demand for high-speed Internet, IP television (IPTV), video on demand and other advanced IP services to their extensive customer base. With the ability to efficiently support large numbers of high-bandwidth subscribers on a single platform, the E320 enables Chongqing to introduce innovative new services while keeping costs per subscriber low.

Redback Networks Inc. has won the second phase of a broadband network upgrade with largest provincial carrier in China. Guangdong Telecom will use Redback's SmartEdge family of multi-service edge routers to deliver broadband internet, IPTV and virtual private network (VPN) services for up to four million homes and businesses.

In both cases, ads can be targeted based on content characteristics, rotation by dates and location. In the session based targeting, the ads can be targeted based on subscriber profile data and session context data (such as time of day).

BT launched its next generation television service, BT Vision. This service puts the viewer in control by combining the appeal of TV with the interactivity of broadband. Customers will be able to watch what they want when they want and not be tied to TV schedules. The service does not require a regular monthly subscription.

The National Football League and Verizon Communications have agreed to deliver live NFL Network sports and entertainment programming via Verizon's consumer broadband services, beginning Dec. 7 with the matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns. Verizon already offers the NFL Network television channel to subscribers of its FiOS TV Service and is the only Internet service provider to deliver selected NFL Network programming over broadband.
